And the police don’t want the media around documenting what’s happening.

These predictable escalations are the actions of tyrants. For all their talk about protecting democracy and the rule of law, it seems there’s nothing they won’t do in order to bring the protestors to heel. The giant sledgehammer of force is getting a real workout north of the border.

Speaking of tyrants, King Inslee has finally decreed The Science has changed enough that we can remove our masks………after only four more weeks to slow the curve.

Inslee said that the late March date to lift the mask mandate is based on hospital admission projections. During Thursday’s news conference, he showed a chart that shows hospitalizations for COVID-19 are about 20 per 100,000 people. His goal is to get that number down to 5, which is when he said hospitals can return to more normal operations.

I happen to have the Washington hospitalization chart right here! And I’ve helpfully highlighted the “5 per 100,000 people” line. Notice how we dropped below that starting about this time last year? Probably a coincidence.

But long-time readers won’t be surprised about what comes next:

Surprising no one at all, this shows (again) how total hospital occupancy is basically unchanged, regardless of how many covid-positive patients are in the building. This means that when the covid-positive patients taper off, the hospitals will still be just as full as they are today.

But Inslee and the rest of the ‘leaders’ need a little buffer time in order to save political face. They can’t come out and say it’s safe today when they were saying it’s not safe yesterday. These people will continue to torture your kids for an additional month with masks at school so their poll numbers don’t drop. Let’s not forget it.
