I see this as one of the weaknesses of the Substack community. We are all semi-anonymous to each other, although after Edward Snowden we all understand that "they" know who we are. (Recall the outcome of the brief era of confession during Mao's Great Leap Forward.)

With the recent "Amnesty" scam, it may be difficult to exclude the "Covidioti" (a lovely Italian word from a previous essay) except that they will show up with their masks and a baseball mitt.

"Vaccine safety signals" is a euphemism meant to lull you into believing that the words "safety" and "vaccine" go together. The real term needs to be, "Vaccine danger signals." There is no such thing as a medical intervention without risks. Intervention always entails risk. The option to do forgo an intervention may entail risk. All options must be weighed by the individual in determining risk versus benefit.

Covid and vaxines are but a tiny part of a much bigger culling. Headlines are subtly threatening civil war and the use of nuclear weapons as an inevitability, which should be read as a warning by us all. The people behind the curtain know the plot of the story. It's the same one that made the New Testament and Star Trek so popular. The socialist utopia only happens AFTER the global Armageddon. The western governments have all bought into it, especially the one currently in power in the U.S. The brandon administration's every move has been to weaken national sovereignty, moving us towards a one world order whether the citizens want it or not.

The only reason we still see anything about "election denial" or Jan 6 is because those in power plan on using the same mechanism that put them in power to stay there next month. Nancy said so on national TV. There will be a lot of confused people out there wondering how that could have possibly happened. Those in power need some propaganda to point to.

It's all just a psy-op until someone loses an eye (Ashli Babbit). They have to keep us all scared and afraid to react for the color revolution to work. Covid and vaxes are just a very small part of a MUCH bigger operation. I would not rule out brandon using tactical nukes on a few red states to nip a civil war in the bud and then blaming russia for it, all at the order of and for the benefit of those actually pulling his strings. He's 80 years old and has nothing to lose. He may as well be a hologram. Really hope I'm wrong about all of this. We'll know shortly.

I don't have a problem with government not giving a f*** about me. Government is not my Daddy. I do have a problem with government's overt malice toward people who think like me. Very interested to see your next post on this topic. There is a wide chasm between indifference and actual malice. Those in control now have made that leap.

Expand full comment

I do not think the chasm between indifference and actual malice is all that wide really. I think they end at the same place, for one can only really hold onto strong malice for minutes at a time, where indifference is easy to keep up for years. Hannah Arendt said the biggest suprise on meeting the evildoers of the 3rd Reiche was their indifference.

Your article is a great summation of what I've been reading elsewhere, and George Carlin had it right.

I was thinking this morning that actual liberals should be for decentralization of power at this point. We need to return power to the governments closest to home. Whether they knew it or not, the Founders had the dangers of a large federal government pegged. When you remove accountability that far from people, bad things happen. At the local, county, and state level, those people have to face those who voted for them. At the federal level, they only go back when they have to campaign. That's why if you're a real liberal, right now you should be for tearing the federal government down and giving it only two jobs: manage the military to guard our borders (nothing overseas) and present a single face for the international community to talk to. That's it. And if the countries in the EU were smart, they'd all pull a Britain.

I'm old enough to remember liberals being for decentralization (in the 1990s). Or at least some of us were. And being anti-tax was originally a left-wing movement as well (e.g., H.D. Thoreau, Ammon Hennessey), because we don't have control over what they do with our money. They take our money and do appalling things with it, so some of the taint of that gets on us. My thought has always been, decentralize down to the smallest unit possible, the individual whenever possible. If it doesn't need to be legislated, don't. It was pretty slick of their propaganda artists to get liberals to support big government control, including mandates, censorship, and mass surveillance. I'm still amazed they get so many takers. I think it's partly because they've played up the tribal partisan bullshit. It's not all government oligarchs that are evil, just the ones from that other evil party. I remember co-presenting to a group of college freshmen. They expressed mistrust of the entire government, but my co-presenter was like, "no, it's the evil Republicans," and I was like, "no, I think the freshmen have it right."

Expand full comment

I’m not sure I understand how liberalism has not been in favor of large, centralized government, going back at least to FDR? As an outsider it seems that liberals have been promoting big government for a long time. Only now are they starting to see that those ideas don’t work out as planned.

Expand full comment

"Liberal" has many definitions, but the one that I come back to is that liberals focus on creating a system that affords the most amount of individual autonomy and empowerment to the most amount of people. So, yes, you can have a small government liberal, or at least "the smallest government possible" liberal. And as others have suggested, while many make this mistake, liberal and Democrat are not synonyms.

Maybe I thought of myself as a liberal because I was for civil liberties and individual freedoms and against the forever wars, but I was really more of a libertarian all along. During the Bush era, what with the Iraq War and associated attacks on civil liberties, it seemed like the heavy hand of the state was wielded most often by Republicans. I didn't realize that the regime moved back and forth at its convenience until Obama was essentially another W.

Indeed. I discovered that the hard way. People who agreed with me about how much Bush sucked turned around and defended Obama when he did the same things. Then it occurred to me that LBJ was a democrat, but he still got the US mired into that quagmire in Viet Nam. The protestors at that time didn't give a rat's ass about his political party, they just wanted out of the war. I think a lot of the partisan crap is to make sure that, or something like the yellow vests, or any other truly populist rebellion, doesn't happen again.

And the establishment propaganda artists keep trying to spin all dissenters as right-wing extremists, including people who clearly come from the left (Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Russell Brand, Tim Pool, Tulsi Gabbard, etc.). It's truly ridiculous. What they mean by "right-wing extremist" is anyone who isn't buying what they're selling.

The Founders absolutely recognized the dangers of a large federal government. The Constitution was written with goal of limiting the federal government to only very specific powers to ameliorate problems that had arisen under the previous Articles of Confederation.

Looking back I realize that George Carlin was at the vanguard of comedy transitioning from funny to just ducking awful rants. Why anyone would pay to listen to his rants is beyond me. At least politicians don’t charge for rally’s. (Don’t give trump any ideas! He probably could lol)

We saw George Carlin about a year before he died. A "rant" is the perfect description of his "show". When he started joking about kids committing suicide, we got up and left. It was NOT the George Carlin we had seen in movies (or however it was that we saw him back then - I can't even remember). He was a bitter, angry man.

Perhaps one of the most intentionally 'hilarious' lines that the 'experts' took was that it was understandable why black people wouldn't be getting the 'vaccine', because of their terrible experience and memories of Tuskegee. (https://www.history.com/news/the-infamous-40-year-tuskegee-study)

I guess their logic was that black people should be able to learn from history and understand government doesn't give a fuck about them, but the rest of us aren't allowed to learn that lesson..
