On Thursday, the Supreme Court delivered the first of two body blows against Democrats in general and the Biden administration in particular by ruling that colleges can no longer make race a determining factor when processing admissions.
In the majority opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts stated:
“The Harvard and UNC admissions programs cannot be reconciled with the guarantees of the Equal Protection Clause. Both programs lack sufficiently focused and measurable objectives warranting the use of race, unavoidably employ race in a negative manner, involve racial stereotyping, and lack meaningful end points. We have never permitted admissions programs to work in that way, and we will not do so today.”
Response from the Democrats camp was the expected combination of soft racism and word salad, but for my money, Elizabeth Warren takes the cake:

The Supreme Court ruling makes sense to me. You can’t fight racism with more racism. I do think it’s a little ironic that ultimately Asian-Americans led the fight on this issue, because they were the ones who could prove they were being discriminated against. I bet college admins didn’t see that coming. Now it’s going to be interesting to see those admins — who have basically made careers of racism — attempt to keep the racism going while pretending to stop it. (We see this a little with teachers talking about “workarounds” in public schools.)
Honestly, it’s a little weird that the left is so dead-set against being colorblind. Almost like they think some people simply can’t succeed unless we tilt the playing field. They’re even wheeling Biden in front of the cameras before giving him his ice cream.
But before Biden’s chocolate-chocolate chip ice cream cone had a chance to melt, the Supreme Court on Friday struck down his executive order dealing with student loan “relief”. This set off an even larger meltdown than Thursday’s ruling, leading to perhaps the most “2023” “solution” ever:
This whole situation is maddening, because Biden only played the “student loan relief” card before the 2022 midterms in order to give Democrats a boost going into the election. Biden knew it was unconstitutional (so did Nancy Pelosi!) but he did it anyway because he’d get the short-term political benefits — and then Biden could rail against the Supreme Court when they got around to striking it down.

This follows the familiar pattern of the Biden administration “passing” (more like writing) unconstitutional rules because it knows the courts will take a little time shooting down those rules. By the time the courts ‘remedy’ the situation, the administration has already achieved its short-term goal. We saw this with the CDC eviction moratorium, the federal vaccine mandates, and it sure looks like we saw something very similar with August’s Mar-a-Lago raid.
For the most part, it looks like the gambit worked. At the very least, Democrats are in the same situation they were before the executive order. We’ll see if they actually do something from the legislative side of things, or if they’re too busy shoveling money into Ukraine.
And while the Court had a busy week smacking down Joe Biden’s agenda, the media has been kicking him while he’s down. I wrote last week about the white house press room looking like a room that actually holds press, and the attacks haven’t let up. (To be fair, I could just be noticing these articles where I wouldn’t have before.)
Earlier today, Alex Berenson wrote about a New York Times article discussing Hunter Biden’s disowned daughter Navy. The NTY article was….less than flattering to the Bidens.
Even CNN is getting in on the action:
These things only appear in the NYT and on CNN if they’ve been approved at the highest (or lowest?) levels of the Swamp. Are these the first steps in replacing Biden as the Democratic candidate in 2024? Can the Swamp time the replacement correctly and “slip” somebody like Gavin Newsom into the spot without a “real” primary election? I’ll be going over these questions in the near future.
