Just added:

WASHINGTON — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange plans to plead guilty as part of a plea deal with the U.S. Justice Department that will allow him to go free after spending five years in a British prison, according to court documents.

de facto 12 years in prison for journalism. That's how the mafia state rolls.

I read the letter to the Mariana Islands judge that NBC linked to. Funny that the U.S. would actually be accommodating Assange now, by letting him do a pit stop court appearance en route to Australia, rather than have to go to the states and then fly back to Australia.

Thank goodness they've given up on their persecution of Assange.

That said, the Feds don't do altruism, so what's their motivation? Election politics? If so, I haven't heard Trump or the establishment GOP weigh in on Assange.

So everybody, what gives?

We're probably blowing tens of millions a year trying to prosecute a guy who's no longer relevant. At some point they just want to take the W.

SimulationCommander will probably do a post on it soon, but this is the document with the Supreme Court's decision on the Murthy v. Missouri case.

The topic has been covered by quite a few 'Stackers, so my plan was to link to them and the full ruling and let us chat about it in the comments of today's unrelated article. For Screamers reading the ruling, the dissent starts on page 35.

Congrats SC!! Come on everyone and go paid! That would be a heck of a way to get him back to Fine, or better than fine!

We got our horses moved to the new homestead this weekend. 16 hours to the old place and back in one shot to haul them at night so the global warming didn't get them lol. They like West Virginia!

That would make us the Screamer Brigade.

Or, you are Simulation Captain and we are Task Group Screamer.

Either way, congratulations.

Screamer Brigade has a nice ring.

Thanks for the weather meme. And this is not a pawsitivity post. My 80 ft more than 80 year old blue spruce came down during the haboob on Wednesday. Positivity in the form of - the lovely apple tree that it split in half stopped it from hitting my roof. Here's the headline. "Unbelievable" is right.

I have pictures of my trees and the brick walk it tore up. I had been sitting outside when it started to drizzle. Then the winds kicked up. I came inside and tried to decide if I should go into the cellar. It's a wine cellar, but large enough to live in for a while. I wondered what I should take with me besides a corkscrew and a glass -have to be civilized and not drink straight from the bottle even during armaggedon. By the time I decided, the trees were down, the winds were finished, and I was left mourning my beautiful tree. A crew came the next two days and removed most of the debris. My yard, which people have always commented on because it's green and pretty, now looks bereft. Trees are dying all around here anyway. So much for positivity, I guess.

SimComm , quick administrative?… does my subscription automatically renew?? I don’t want to stiff ya! I got a bit carried away with paid subscriptions… I feel guilty not paying, but…. I went a bit overboard and would do nothing but park my butt and “converse” all day if I read all my Substacks! Thanks for including Gary Varvel’s most excellent cartoon! I’m assuming you know that the “ Indianapolis Star” dropped him because of his religious “bent.” I’m really hoping our collective screaming ends in November!! Congrats on your #s!

I think that it does, but I also think that it sends you a notice like a week beforehand. If you want I could check out when that's going to happen?

Edit: Even better, I was able to disable the autorenew for your subscription specifically, so you won't be charged!

Oh! LOL! Yes, in general your subs will auto-renew. When you're on one of those 'Stacks, you should be able to click your profile picture and then 'manage subscription' -- then you can cancel your paid subscription, which should continue until the end of the billing cycle.
