"...scalding hot shower to shake the nausea..."

I have a running joke with my kids (mostly when they were younger, and still came to me with their "ow-ies") where I take care of their pain by, basically, hinting that I could get them to not feel the pain.....by creating greater pain somewhere else on their body.

Is this "scalding" treatment a real world example?

Impeccable timing... somehow (unclear how I landed on this list, but I haven't had the heart to unsubscribe b/c I find the daily 'asks' for donations incredibly amusing..) I got this email after reading your post: "We’re just 67 days from the midterm elections and there’s a lot at stake. So, I want to be crystal clear about what’s on the ballot this year.

Dear XXX - Your right to choose is on the ballot. Your Social Security -- that you paid for. The safety of your kids from gun violence. The survival of our planet. Your right to vote. Even our democracy is on the ballot.

If you’re ready to fight for it, make your first $7 donation to the Democratic National Committee today. Whatever you’re able to contribute will help our party elect Democrats committed to building a better America."

Is it just me, or are the slogans "Make America Great Again" & "Build Back Better" mostly pointing in the same direction?? Except for, of course, the MAGA slogan is clearly aligned with some terrorist organization. Because Joe said so. #FJB

Note to self: add a donation solicitation joke at the start of stand-up routine. Apparently, some find them so amusing, it keeps them listening. (Now, if only I could make them laugh as well.)

Just teasing, M. Rainydog. Stick around; I think you'll find our host's stack worth your time, especially since it sounds like you are free-loading! (Sorry, another lame tease. I can't help myself, but M. Sim's posts sure do.)

Speaking of timing, Labor Day is the traditional start of the campaign season, thus the "impeccable" timing and tone of Biden's speech, not to mention the Raid On Mar-A-Lago and political solicitations in general.

And, no, "MAGA" and "BBB" most certainly do *not* point in the same direction, despite both being mere political slogans.

Finally, I love your final two sentences. I suggest you unsubscribe from Fascist-I-mean-Democrat-party solicitations.

Thanks for your comments Timothy. To be clear, I've been a paid subscriber of SC for quite some time, as I appreciate the insight and humor that is provided. As I mentioned in my post, I have no idea how I landed on the DNC's email list, but as I like to hear/read from a variety of sources before I make up my mind, (even if some of those perspectives make my skin crawl) I consider this 'direct solicitation' another perspective on the current political landscape, so after a quick read (& sometimes a laugh), delete them.

Does anyone actually know a so-called "MAGA" "republican"? Lol. I live around a lot of mostly somewhat "live and let live" conservative libertarian types who will vote for the best candidate for the most part and most of all of them just want to be left the F alone. I've never once heard any of them tow the "MAGA" line (whatever that is) or even wear a red hat. If wanting to live relatively free, raise a family, maybe get a nice home and a pickup truck and be able to feed your family and have a decent job is "MAGA" then I guess I, and millions more of us, are in the thick of it without even knowing we are. Lol. I really wonder what dimension I've been dropped into over the last several years because I sure as hell don't recognize it.

HardeeHo's avatar

MAGA is actually the return of the Tea Party which was eventually crushed mainly because it had no real leader to fight the assault. Trump grabbed naming rights but the movement was already there. I want a return to a bit less government help in my affairs and I suspect others feel the same. I wouldn't mind my taxes except for being used unwisely often benefiting the people I thought were my representatives. I don't want the letter agencies and their employees playing political games. We pay those people who don't listen well.

Regarding Trump, I could care less except he seems the only one who isn't already owned by donors.

Spot on, and the Dems know it, which is why they have radically moved up their destruction of our multi-party republic and its replacement with a one-party State (think CCP and Russia), which of course must entail further destruction of Constitutionalism, not just the Deplorables Party.

Thus, the popularity of the uncaptured, uncapturable DJT, despite his obvious character flaws, which only get *used* by the Statists and Statists-at-heart. Oh, and his POLICIES, which align perfectly with tea-party, libertarian, Capitalist-minded folk. You never hear the Left bring up the differences in policies. No wonder why.

Yep. The OG Tea Partiers know that it was started as a Ron Paul campaign push based around economics. It was only after Obama got elected that the 'establishment' tried to co-opt it and claimed to be part of it.

I was thinking about this today. Maybe I could be lumped in because I find myself always defending Trump from the idiotic attacks coming from the left? I certainly liked his actual policies while in office. No wars was the big one, but deregulation and completely constitutional border policies (Enforcing safe third country laws) were other good ones.

Also, exposing the swamp was extremely helpful. Does that make me MAGA? I was always more of a Ron Paul guy. I guess I get put on the subversive list either way.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Politics makes strange bed-fellows.

If you do *not* vote for the lesser of two "evils" (judgment to be made by each individual for themselves, not by Dem mules), then you are, in essence, increasing the chances of the greater (again, individually, even selfishly, judged). For the life of me, this logic has no flaw.

So thank you for taking one for the team as the phrase is. This is so sad to see, Bidet's speech, because it hits very close to home for me, this kind of rethoric being what the Socialist Democrat and the Communist party has been using for over 25 years to terrorise people and make them vote "correctly".

If you want to know where the Democrats are leading you (regardless of whatever actual intentions they have), just look at Sweden:

Mass migration of welfare dependent people which are basically used as "voting cattle" (a swedish idiom for these people regardless of race).

Punitive taxation like 25% VAT on all transactions, meaning every step of the chain involved with putting food on the shelves pays a 25% VAT to the state. It was introduced here as temporary crisis measure during WW2.

Stripped-down and purged military and police, to be used domestically instead of for power projection. But raised costs for same.

Further entrechment of the corporate structure, making state, party and corporation cmpletely inseparable and immunising the state and party against FOIA since these won't cover private businesses and corporations. Good luck subpoena-ing documentation while something is still in the news cycle.

Huge investments in "trusted news initiatives" together with the states' school systems. Expect children to have "watching the news" as part of their daily curriculum, informally at first and then as kind of replacement for the pledge of allegiance. Teacher's will then use the selected news items as a basis for lessons, no matter the subject.

Compulsory communal kindergarten from age 1 to the tune of above.

Massively increased spending on foreign aid, meaning bribes using tax money to grease foreign governements to make deals with US corporations, the diplomats involved beeing 'former' clerks from said corporations.

Completely demolished and downsized civil service, yet no tax reductions. Where is the money going? Nobody knows. Nobody in a postion to know would benefit from telling.

Gated communities - not the way you are used to but in reverse. The poor, the aggrieved, the disenfranchised and any district not Democrat enough will have restrictions placed on their freedom of movement; either formal or informal - such as the state building some 20 or 30 ten storey blocks of flats each housing at least an even thousand of unemployable migrants, possibly from the ME and Africa right next to a quiet peaceful normal american neighbourhood - blockbusting Spanish Lake-style on a national scale.

And much, much more. Trump certainly knew what he was talking about when he said "Look at Sweden".

Dilemma we have here, is that due to migration policy since 1976, we now have 30% of the population being migrants who vote Socialist Democrat.

Meaning representative democracy is as much an enemy of Sweden and her people as is the ruling party. And pointing out that our political system is the leading cause of our suicide as a people and a nation is a real hard sell.

You have the same situation in the US, regarding the jewish banking & business lobby making sure you keep "lending" money to Israel, black "community leaders" who whip their fellows into a frenzy hating the white americans, and hispanics/latinos taking your country by the simple dint of of having more kids and helping keep the southern border open.

Which is an incredibly hard sell to americans, given your belief in "all men created equal". Shame only white americans nelieve that.

To paraphrase the Old Bard, "Me thinks the demented old fool doth protest too much."

I was watching Tucker while Biden was speaking, so Biden was in a little box off to the side. Just him in front of a red background makes your skin crawl. But Tucker had a great opening monologue that made me feel better (I'm not feeling all that good about what's going on, and I'm sure I'm not alone). Fortunately, Fox put it up. I think I'll catch the worst highlights on conservative news outlets. He (and his press secretary which is extremely unpleasant to listen to) are doing the Justin Trudeau thing of calling opposition a bunch of names. (Trudeau is stuck on "homophobes, racists and bigots" - methinks he secretly has those tendencies, and throws that out to relieve his own inner guilt - see this piece https://www.theblaze.com/news/trudeaus-antiracism-program-cut-after-being-exposed-as-racist ). The Biden Whitehouse is trying to demonize conservatives and Trump followers, saying we're so dangerous to democracy.
