(Note: Today’s post is too long for email and there’s nothing I can do about it. Check the website for the complete version!)
If you’re anything like me, you’ve noticed extremely negative changes in society during the last few years (I guess maybe more than a few years now). My belief is this stems from the fact that politics has injected itself into everything — even sports and movies aren’t immune these days.
I’m of the mind that political opinions should be one of the least interesting things about a person. After all, it doesn’t take any special skill or hard work to vote for a political party, and choosing the flavor of the authoritarian asshole who holds your leash seems — to me — like the entirely wrong conversation to have. I LOVE to talk about politics, but very rarely bring it up out of the blue because it’s so rarely a part of “real” life.
But recently, ‘politics above everything’ has turned nearly every aspect of life into a divisive, unenjoyable slog. Hating Donald Trump (and by extension everything he did) became the primary characteristic of many people. These are the type of people who have to pretend fire alarms are confusing instead of conceding a single point to ‘the other side’.
Ironically (or maybe predictably), colleges were one of the first things to fall into the embrace of politics above all, with universities across the nation implementing DEI programs that took the focus off education and onto ‘diversity’ (but not thought diversity, of course). Later, these universities implemented team-affirming “land acknowledgements” that were repeated before events. That’s how the ball gets going — you must say the words and do the dance or else you find yourself on the outside looking in.
Many people thought this madness would stay contained to higher education, a view that seems naïve in retrospect. Where else were all the DEI-spouting college grads going to go, if not into the workplace?
And into the workplace they went, infesting HR departments at places like CVS so they could continue to undermine competence for the sake of diversity:
Rob Schnieder had the perfect reaction to this video:
Travel is much more exciting when you don’t know if your plane is going to fall apart!
In Washington, Jay Inslee has been patting himself on the back for years because he’s a ‘climate warrior’, but when push comes to shove and temperatures drop into dangerous territory, what does all that ‘green investment’ actually get us?
Just when you need the grid most, you’re asked to reduce your usage. The company did it again the next day. I’m sure putting the entirety of government vehicles onto the grid won’t come back to bite us in a future winter emergency — if only a sense of moral superiority could keep you warm!
As another example, the recent shooting in Iowa was a terrible tragedy up until the exact moment it was discovered the shooter was — at the very least — an “ally” on the FBI radar. Like clockwork, the story then became about how “far-right figures” dared point out the facts of the case:
Like the Nashville shooter manifesto, the truth must be suppressed or spun because it’s politically inconvenient. Not only must we support all trans people — even mass shooters — we must allow them to play sports with our girls.
You don’t want to be kicked out of the club, do you? Or worse, be labeled as one of those ‘far-right figures’ the media warns about?
The Ukraine war is another perfect example. People who hadn’t even thought of Ukraine — and couldn’t find it on a map — suddenly couldn’t WAIT to put Ukrainian flags in their profiles and LOUDLY tell us how much they supported Ukraine.
Why was that? Because they realized the incredible importance of Ukraine to the national security of America? Or because they’d be kicked out the club for being a “Putin stooge” for anything less than full-throated support of the narrative?
You know who doesn’t support Ukraine, don’t you? Right-wingers — and Russians. (Just forget that only a couple years ago, the white supremacists and right-wingers were Ukrainian soldiers we’re now supporting.) You don’t want to be kicked out of the club, do you?
Protestors are perhaps the perfect microcosm of the double standards alive and well in America today. If you’ve got ANY right-wing proclivities, you get the book thrown at you — even if it’s illegal:
While it’s great the courts are (finally) calling out Trudeau’s massive overreach…..he still got what he wanted in the moment — and even after being reprimanded, his administration doesn’t seem very apologetic about freezing the bank accounts of protestors.
Meanwhile in America, simply having the “wrong” politics gets you treated like a criminal: (Remember when they said they’d NEVER EVER use the USA PATRIOT Act for something like this?)
"According to this analysis, FinCEN warned financial institutions of ‘extremism’ indicators that include ‘transportation charges, such as bus tickets, rental cars, or plane tickets, for travel areas with no apparent purpose,’ or ‘the purchase of books (including religious texts) and subscriptions to other media containing extremist views,’" Jordan detailed in a letter to the former director of FinCEN, Noah Bishoff, a career employee.
"In other words, FinCEN used large financial institutions to comb through the private transactions of their customers for suspicious charges on the basis of protected political and religious expression," Jordan wrote.
Meanwhile, left-wing protestors have an entirely different experience:
Do we throw the book at protestors or do we throw the bag at protestors? It depends on who they are and what they are protesting, of course.
Perhaps the most obvious and extreme example of politics overtaking everything else were the covid years, during which we were expected to follow every whim the ‘experts’ dreamt up — no matter how idiotic they actually were. (Your mask must remain on until you’re seated at your table! SCIENCE!)
Throughout covid, truth took an important backseat to politics — especially after Biden won and the left went from not trusting the jab to not trusting people who were simply as skeptical as the left was before the election. The goal became ‘jabs in arms’, and anything that would undermine that goal was shoved aside — like myocarditis data.
See, the agency that had been creating panic all through 2020 didn’t want to cause panic around the jab — so instead they allowed thousands of kids to get injected to ‘protect’ against a virus they didn’t need to fear in the first place. (Bonus: It didn’t even stop them from being infected!) Then the agency remained silent as Biden mandated the shots for everybody. To prevent more panic. Yeah, right.
The covid panic — and ongoing cover-up — was enabled by the political takeover of the media, which reliably parroted the official covid narrative. (And why not? They were making bank by doing it!) This is the same political-based journalism that gave endless (and breathless) coverage of Russiagate, and the same one that has to pretend the economy is booming — even as the headline is contradicted by BREAKING NEWS:
In fact, there’s no issue in which the media will not beclown itself at the altar of politics:
Why are you freaks so worried about powerful people sex trafficking minors? Weirdos.
The media also carried water for Democratic policies at the border over the last few years, but now that the effects of those policies are becoming untenable, the presstitutes attempt to flip the script and blame REPUBLICANS (and Trump specifically) for the open-borders policy that was racist to denounce just a few years ago.
FORGET WHAT WE TOLD YOU YESTERDAY, LISTEN TO WHAT WE SAY TODAY! (But not too much, because you’ll need to forget it tomorrow.)
In an example of what you listened to but need to forget, here’s Democratic superstar candidate Barack Obama was spewing stuff that would get him labeled as “right-wing” today:
“Several hundred thousands of folks coming in every year”? That sure sounds terrible! Wait, 10% of last year’s 2.4 million border-crossers would still be “several hundred thousands of folks”. We should do everything we can to prevent that!
If only we had this guy in office, he’d really crack down on sanctuary cities!
But the politics of the situation changed, so Biden did everything he could to keep the border open — but because the politics are changing again, Joe Scarborough needs you to think Republicans are responsible for the massive amounts of immigration at the border.
But as a result of being transparently pre-packaged propaganda, trust in the legacy media is plummeting and the industry is in a freefall: (Warning — Taylor Lorenz)
Without the LA Times, who would mindlessly repeat the approved narrative on every issue under the sun? Well, except for EVERYBODY ELSE in media. This is why I say a particular narrative-peddling journalist has a value of zero. In every aspect, they’re being exposed as the propaganda-peddling hacks they are. This makes the puppet masters very unhappy:
Oh no! People can go to all sorts of different sources for the news, not just the ones that the WEF has bought off! And those ingrates are QUESTIONING what the WEF is saying! (Do these people hear themselves?)
But WEF-managed speech isn’t free speech, just like FBI-controlled speech isn’t free speech, just like censored speech isn’t free speech.
Only free speech is free speech, and they HATE free speech.
That’s why they want to control speech, just like they used to.
But while people are tuning out of the legacy media, readers are flocking to independent sites — such as this one — to get information that doesn’t fit inside the box of allowable opinions. This proves that it’s not “journalism” that people hate, it’s whatever was passing for journalism at the newsdesk of The LA Times.
Bonus example: Having a Department of Justice that goes after the political enemies of the administration is the most dangerous thing ever…unless we’re the ones doing it:

Republicans recklessly kill the toughest border security bill in a generation and then complain about… border security. They have no shame.
Thanks for the Taylor warning so I could skip watching. Taylor warning is super appreciated, no matter which one , Lorenz or Swift or those cursed clothing makers /shakes fist at yellow soft measuring tape.
