The small zoo in the city we used to live in, had snapping turtles on one exhibit. They had a sign with information about them, a warning sign ("Caution! The turtles will bite you!") and a painted sign showing a turtle biting a finger off a hand.

Every year, some adult would either get bit, or get their kid bit because they'd hold the kid above the plexi-glass close enough to pet the turtles.

That wasn't the worst though.

One exhibit had crocodiles and people persisted in holding their kids up so they could see above the lip of the enclosure. The guy who worked the aquatic part of the zoo, well you could usually hear him out into the street when someone pulled that crap. Imagine someone roaring in a complete rage, in the deepest Southern Drawl you can imagine:

"You retarded inbred shitsock offspring of a totally assfucked devil in Hell! The crocodiles can jump!"

I sometimes wonder how much of our species' evolution has been not-retarded people protecting retards from the consequences of their own actions.

Ah well.

It's Summer! Coffee, cinnamonbuns with bilberry-filling and a glass of iced punsch!

Will be ingested as soon as the 1/4 of an entire oven-baked salmon I had for supper decides to make room in my belly.

The dog that couldn't see the deer? That's my chocolate lab. He was NOT bred to be a hunting dog!

The dog with the kittens. I could watch that on endless loop.

He's so excited but patient.

Really REALLY good ones today, to quote Steenroid... I have a Golden (mahogany) and he and our lab rescue MUST go by the kitties when they go to PetSmart (when they "borrow" kitties from the humane society each Caturday) and I just KNOW they'd love a kitty to pieces. EVERYTHING was excellent today, you outdid yourself.

The big dog cosying up with the little one. The dog and the kittens. The dog... well all the dogs LOL. My own dog was sick for 3 weeks and has finally recovered. The dog who steps over the deer is quite something, but mine stepped over a snake 2 years ago without noticing. Small snake, OK but a snake nevertheless. I fwd your page to a couple of animal lovers.

I felt so sorry for the smaller dog in the pound. That giant dog walking up on him. Then came the cuddle. Awwwww.

Sim Com, as bad as I feel for you & Ryan, the Lion's share of sympathy has to go to the Tiger fans ( like L.E.K.) ... and what's left goes to my fellow Orange&Black bleeders--well on our way to the 43rd season since a W.S. appearance.

That said, your video of the corgi & golden may be the best performance by a team for the month of May !

If the cubs can break their slump-streak, there is hope.

That Dachshund knocking down orange cones reminded me of unvaccinated during Covid lockdowns/mandates.

So I was this old (today) when I found out that new fawns have no scent. And dogs are not known for their keen eyesight.

So there is THAT…

Regarding 6 a.m. worlds in collision: In my woodsy but very urban neighborhood, especially on summer weekends (trust me, it’s already summer), when I go for a run I head out between 5 and 6, and I definitely encounter a fair number of people (they’re *probably* people) for whom it’s still Friday or Saturday night.

Dog ring toss: reminds me of the meme where the first panel is a wolf skulking by a human encampment looking to scrounge some food, thinking “What’s the harm?”; second panel, 10,000 years later …
