Long-time readers of Screaming into the Void know that one of my favorite subjects is about the malfeasance of the press becoming (or always being) the PR arm of The Swamp. The most recent example involves ex-liar-in-chief for the Biden administration Jen Psaski interviewing current Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Take a listen to how casually AOC remarks (after being prodded by Psaki) that Tucker Carlson is dangerous and shouldn’t be allowed to be on TV:
AOC brings up the fact that broadcast TV is subjected to federal regulations.
Let me remind AOC that Congress is also subjected to federal regulations:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
But AOC only wants to go after “incitement of violence”, which Tucker is “very clearly” involved in. So only media companies that are inciting violence will be held accountable! Surely only Bad People would be against such a thing!
Of course, AOC and Psaski both know that they’re on the “safe” side of any media crackdown, because their lies advance the accepted narrative. If you leak an upcoming court decision, the bobbleheads on MSNBC want to “make sweet love” to you. If you leak information about how the government is lying to us about our overseas “adventures”, the press will hunt you down and then ask government how this leak could happen in the first place.
If you say that Republicans are “obviously” the greatest threat to democracy — no worries. If you encourage riots all summer before a presidential election — no worries. You’re playing for the “correct” team and can therefore do whatever you want. And if one of your acolytes shoots up an elementary school — the greatest crime imaginable just short months ago — it’s fine, because the police will refuse to release the manifesto that almost certainly shows the attack took place because of “incitement of violence”.
Hell, the vice president might even visit your city and mourn how this affects the group THE SHOOTER was in, and barely even mention the victims.
Think about that. If you’re on the “correct” team, you can ignore the victims of a crime and instead worry about the wellbeing of the perpetrators. (Remind anybody of Jacob Blake?) That’s real power. And what good is real power if you can’t use it to crush your enemies and then dance on their graves?
See guys? De-platforming works! When you’re in office, you just make a list of your political enemies, then work with the media complex (including many ex-government employees) and get them kicked out of society! To defeat fascism, of course.
And now that the “fascist” Tucker Carlson is out, the Pentagon doesn’t have to worry about silly little things like “only 99% of the media goes along with what we say, not 100%.”
Now the Pentagon can wheel out any-old “security expert” to discuss how it’s IMPERATIVE that we send more weapons to Ukraine and be confident that the media will sit quietly, scribbling down every word for regurgitation after a run through the spin cycle.
In fact, if you’re really good at your job (lying in order to advance the narrative), you might find yourself at a Q&A with President Biden. In such a case, be sure to submit your questions in advance so Biden can have his answers pre-canned:
The entire video is available on the full FOX article, but something that struck me is that when he followed the script and called on the reporter from the Times, he didn’t even attempt to pronounce her last name. (That’s racist!)
Yet even when the government is caught coordinating with the media, there’s always an excuse to be hatched and lies to tell. Check out this video thread of current liar-in-chief Karine Jean-Pierre trying to justify these actions. Lie after lie spews from her lips, (“We don’t have specific questions in advance” along with “We try to get a sense of what reporters will ask” is my favorite combo) but America must TRUST HER when she says that this is probably the fault of republicans, somehow.
(Note: The Times claims they did not submit the question in advance — leaving the only possibility that the White House told The Times what to ask. That’s even worse.)
That’s the game. Lie for powerful people, get promoted. Tell the truth ABOUT powerful people, get unemployed. That’s not really how this is supposed to work.
Of course, the silver lining (and the hilarious joke) here is that Fox needs Tucker a whole lot more than Tucker needs Fox. All the “elites” dancing on Tucker’s grave don’t realize what they’ve just done.
It’s like Darth Vader sitting around the Death Star break room and bragging how he dominated his lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
They might think that getting Tucker off TV will allow them to once again control the information narrative — they don’t realize that all they’ve done is hastened the demise of TV news (which can’t come soon enough).
Indeed, Tucker’s only video since his departure from Fox News already has nearly 65 million views — blowing away the numbers he was getting when he was actually at Fox.
And my sneaking suspicion is that for every Tucker who is being silenced, two or three or ten mini-Tuckers decide that they can no longer sit idly by while the media coordinated with government to lie to our faces (and charge us for the privilege).
By striking him down, he shall become more powerful than they could possibly imagine.
Also, a shoutout to Substack, which has now moved the "Post" button FAR FAR away from the "Cancel" button when replying to a comment. Kudos!
They should have found two thieves to fire with him - one at his right hand, the other at his left hand. Then they should have gambled for his Rolodex as the blood spattered them. Then he'd be done, forever. Right? This will go down as the greatest PR blunder in two millenia.
