From the very beginning of the pandemic, the central planners and ‘experts’ have created a multitude of restrictions based on The Science, declaring that X risk demands people do Y. But this assumption is flawed from the beginning. Scientists and politicians should inform free people about existing risks, and even ways to mitigate those risks. What they should NEVER do is override your personal preferences with their own. Once they do, you lose all bodily autonomy. You’re completely at the mercy of the ‘experts’, who just happen to be incestuously connected to the very people getting ridiculously rich off the edicts handed down by said ‘experts’.
Let’s imagine a scenario that likely plays itself out every summer: A group of kids comes across a bridge with water below. Should they jump? It’s hot and the water is sure to feel good. These kids all have to determine the risks and make a decision.
Alex has jumped off this bridge multiple times in the past with no problem. He tells this to the group before he jumps into the water below.
Bobby hates water. He doesn’t care how safe it is or how good the water might feel, he’s not jumping.
Clint has heard about kids being hurt here, so he knows there’s SOME sort of risk. But seeing that Alex was ok, he jumps.
David is Clint’s little brother. He’s going to do whatever Clint does.
A simple risk-reward scenario, determined by each individual according to their own motivations and calculations. They use their own preferences and experiences to come to a decision, just like we all do our whole lives.
Now imagine that just before the kids make their decisions, Anthony Fauci appears in a flurry of gain of function paperwork. “STOP!” he shouts. “Before you jump, you must know there’s a 2% chance of major injury!” (We’re going to assume he’s actually correct for once.) How do the kids respond?
Alex has done it before. He jumps. Bobby still hates water. No jump. Clint now knows exactly the amount of risk, so he jumps. David does what Clint does and jumps.
In other words, this knowledge doesn’t actually change the behavior of anybody at all, because risk was never the major factor in the decision. (Replace the water with lava and suddenly it will be, though!)
Now imagine that Fauci had the ability to actually COMPEL these kids to act. “Sorry, the risk is too great for anybody to jump!” Now nobody’s happy — even Bobby, who wasn’t going to jump but now has to deal with his friends’ complaints all day. (This is like masking kids in school or forcing lockdowns. The experts say the risk is too great to live normally!)
Even worse, Fauci could compel everybody to jump because the risk is so small. No matter that Bobby doesn’t want to get wet, Fauci has decided it’s safe so everybody must jump. (This is like mandating vaccines to all. The experts say they are so safe everybody must take it!)
This is why it’s important to stand here and tell them ENOUGH. Once you give up your ability to decide your own risk tolerance, you’re simply a puppet dancing to the whims of the ‘experts’ and those above them pulling the strings. And because central planners lack the knowledge to make ‘proper’ decisions for everybody individually, they lump everybody together and draft a uniform set of rules that doesn’t actually work for anybody at all. (Except their cronies, of course)
So Alex, who has already recovered, is still forced to mask and vaccinate to work. Bobby, who’s scared to death of covid AND the vaccine, has to get the shot to go to college remotely. And Clint, who’s trying to figure out where the truth lies, is being let down by government agencies constantly hyping the scariest numbers. This also affects David, who follows Clint’s lead.
The proper role of the experts is to honestly inform everybody of their actual risks, and ways to mitigate said risks. In the case of covid, we know that other than age (which we can’t do anything about), obesity and vitamin D deficiency are the best indicators of bad outcomes. Thus, the proper role of government here would have been to encourage people to eat healthy, lose weight, and get out in the sunshine. Instead, look at what we see, even today with vaccines and masks so obviously failing:

She immediately kicks the can to the ‘experts’, who best know how to reduce hospitalizations and deaths! It’s (surprise!) to get vaccinated, get boosted, and wear a mask. Forget all that living healthy stuff! Stay on the couch and watch Netflix in your mask, and only come out for your next booster.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT KEEPING YOU HEALTHY. This is about overriding your personal preferences with that of unaccountable ‘experts’. This is about you giving up your autonomy for the collective. And if you happen to be one of the eggs who gets broken, perhaps via vaccine injury or your child regressing in school, the collective will shrug and say you’re simply the cost of making the omelet.
What Alex, Bobby, Clint, and David should do when Fauci shows up is...
Throw Fauci off the bridge. :)
Such an excellent analogy.
I know of some Canadian truckers (and a certain Canadian PM <cough cough>)who have made their own personal risk assessment.
