A disgusting, stupid speech. YouTube comments 90per cent against... Average dude knows the score.

Are they trying to start a war? I'm pissed and stunned.

This speech would never have occurred years before... Seems calculated

It seems to me that your coverage of these POTUS speeches is some of the toughest work a correspondent could possibly take on. I don't know how you do it!

Well, at least the Big Guy has given you a four month break, or did I sleep through a couple since.

The thing in Cleveland is . . . how much *is* "Antifa" and "BLM" in bed with the Democrat Party?

So any bets on how long after tonight's speech it takes before they arrest Trump? I don't know what anyone else thinks, but it feels like that's what this all is building up to.

I always thought that Hilary Clinton's 2016 nail-in-her-political-coffin was when she denigrated DJT supporters by calling them deplorables. I thought the Dems would realize almost immediately the self-defeating nature of attacking voters, as opposed to trying to win them over.

BoyGirl, was I wrong.

Instead they expanded on the strategy, going all in on what every reasonable person (including the few reasonable Dems) can easily see as their nefarious goal: a one-party State.

Do they really think a majority of Americans *want* to be the next China/Russia?

Expand full comment
SimulationCommander's avatar

They can't help it. Ask any liberal to explain why conservatives believe that liberals hate them, and the liberal will instead explain why they hate conservatives. They don't see that they are losing people on the margins with their 'with us or against us' strategy -- but it might be too late for that to matter, because they control the elections.

"...they control the elections."

iow, they have already destroyed their supposed lodestar, democracy.

Are we all just survivalists now, some of us valiantly trying to ignore that we have already lost (in this pendulum swing at any rate) our un-kept republic to eternity? Or at least until enough of us decide not to go quietly in the night, which, of course, the Statists, with their F-15s, would love for us to *actually* do, because, you know, they would just use it like they use *every* other issue.

(btw, those F-15s, and virtually *all* modern warfare techniques stand no chance, ever, against a big enough (real) insurgency. We all know that, too.)

Expand full comment
SimulationCommander's avatar

Even if we're destined to lose, that doesn't mean we go quietly into the night. The administration will reveal itself long before they 'win', and every time they do so, they lose support.

The optimist in me agrees with you, but every other day, it seems, I wonder.

I wonder how the polls could be showing such continued support for this wayward State and its one-party enablers and voters.

>> Do they really think a majority of Americans *want* to be the next China/Russia?

I believe THEY believe it's a real possibility, and worth betting on, and that's what they seem to be doing.

I think Hillary's "deplorable" moment was a calculated risk that failed. Democrats (and I think this is a major distinction from Republicans, if we can all resist "teh Uniparty" cliches for a moment) have been betting on demographics for quite a long time. A lot of their strategic thinking seems to be rooted in this notion that- one way or another- a population can be engineered that will create a permanent majority and then they can basically stop trying, and all of their most important and expensive work is in doing this engineering.

We need to be aware of and consider carefully that there ARE many Americans that want to be the next China/Russia- that are terrified of real or imagined risks, have been conditioned to be completely risk-averse, and to see the state as the best guarantor of safety. I think this is already a generational phenomenon.

In any psychological operation, when you see someone making a wild swing for the fences like "deplorables" and "MAGA Republicans" and "insurrectionists" and so on, this points to a specific strategy and mission. An actor doing this believes (or believes they know) that they have amassed enough support to win and do not need to persuade or convert anyone else, or that the ROI of efforts to do so has passed its tipping point; at this stage in an op, you put all your efforts into galvanizing your base to make sure they act (in this case, *probably* to show up and vote).

Racism, plain and simple. In fact, the worst kind because of its insidiously quiet nature and its "good" government imprimatur in the minds of the ignorant.

But their is some daylight in the polls. It seems the "minorities" groups are completely made up of independently thinking individuals, just like we white ("entitled") are.

Of course, we Classical Liberals knew that all along. We are not racists.

Ok, I thought for sure that the guy who was shot was white. But he wasn't so the lack of breathless reporting and violent BLM riots is beyond me.

Regarding the Biden speech, nobody in our household intends to watch it. After being shocked in real time by Biden's demonization of those critical-thinking people who refused to subject themselves to experimental jabs, we've got better things to do than be demonized and insulted again. Whatever he's going to accuse Republicans for, is what his own leftist party and totalitarian administration are already doing.

Simple: Both the BLM movers-and-shakers as well as those "breathless reporters" have been informed by the, uh...powers-that-be, to stand down lest attention is diverted from our silver-tongued supreme leader.

It's a declaration of war on Republicans or Russians. Hmm...maybe both?

For the readers who aren't familiar with the term, "Taking one for the team" is a phrase in baseball that means getting hit with the pitch to advance the team's goal of getting runners on base.

In other words, subject yourself to harm for the collective.

In baseball, it works. In medical treatments, not so much.

Expand full comment
Timothy Andrew Staples/pop122's avatar

But it's against the rules (sort of, technically) in baseball, and it *should* be against the rules in politics.

But, yeah, clueless of them to use the phrase.
