So...Scalise. Good? Bad?

I was kinda hoping for Jordan, but only because he seemed to be the fighter McCarthy did not seem to be.

Well, my default position is "politician = bad", so there's that. Realistically, we'll only know after he does (or doesn't do) what he promised. I don't care if Ron Paul himself were the Speaker -- if he refused to release the 1/6 tapes, I would want to replace him with somebody who will.

My big problem with RFK Jr. is the Climate Change crap. That's a non-starter for me. If they continue down this road of trying to slowly kill us by raising energy prices, there will be no middle class in 10 years.

Agreed. Energy is the lifeblood of society.

THAT said, I'm willing to listen to any 'climate warrior' who's advocating building nuclear reactors -- at least that would be a plan other than "have candles ready"

SimCom, maybe I'm outta line, but judging squarely by the actions/comments of present leadership of the Party that claims to be the progeny of RFK,Jr's father & uncle's Party, I don't believe they have any interest in chatting/teaching/persuading those of my ilk until AFTER the electrodes are removed

The campaign speech was all meaningless platitudes. Fine. But, I'm sorry, he's a Democrat. Will he cut taxes? No. Will he secure the border? No. Will he fight for the 2nd Amendment? Please. Will he go loony over stuff like the Green New Deal? That's a big yes. We all know these things to be true.

We liked him a bit because he was the only one criticizing the vaccine. But that's always been his thing, Making sure vaccines are tested and stuff like that. Did he say anything about the vaccines in his big speech? He's been pretty quiet about vaccines lately, hasn't he? Look, if he comes out and makes mRNA vaccines his signature issue and exposes the lies and money and death behind all of it.....I would vote for him. The vaccine is the issue of our generation. (That, and voter fraud). Anyway, something to watch for. If we know about the vaccine....he sure does.

Why is he running as an independent? Yeah, its probably because they think it will hurt Trump somehow. But, I agree with someone else who said ....it won't hurt Trump at all. It will siphon some votes from Newsom...and just make for a little more work for them filling out fraudulent ballots.....

He specifically mentioned the border, so it's more than a little possible he shuts it down. Other than that minor quibble, I think you're probably right on the nose.

I also think that politically, today wasn't the day to talk about the vaccines -- it would be the fastest way to let the media crater his campaign. (I've still seen some "anti-vax candidate...." in the media, even without mentioning them). Overall, you're 100% right that it's the biggest issue, but he's got plenty of time to hammer away at Mr. Warp Speed and Mr. Mandate.

The mail-in ballots are the glaring integrity hole in the upcoming election, and it seems like nobody in power cares.......(wonder why!)

I'll be honest tho, I really like RFK jr. every podcast I hear him on, he strikes me as intelligent, empathetic and principled. on the other hand I remember feeling this way about Obama in 2008 and the let down from him still hurts.

When it comes to politicians, you REALLY have to hope for the best, expect the worst. I think a lot of people learned that during the Obama years. (I would have been one of them without Ron Paul.)

Interesting that both sides are saying RFK will steal THEIR votes, but in your case neither major party had (or probably ever would get) your vote in the first place. (I sure know that feeling)

it's funny that you mention Ron Paul (whom I really admire).

in the 2008 election, I thought Obama was the right choice over Paul. I still remember the heated but civil debates I had with my Ron Paul friends.

needless to say, I can admit they were 100% right about Obama and I was wrong about not backing RP. that one still stings haha...

I actually didn't cry (for a change) over the onion one! That was such a wonderful story!! Those flopped-over ears were adorbs fer sure! The little girl in the laundry basket was an example of above-and-beyond parenting. That is one lucky little girl! Much cute! Love the kitteh and the pupper-doggo! "What light through yonder window breaks?" is just too much fun. I like RFK Jr but he is way too fixated on "climate change" [the last I heard was that you should be in jail if you don't believe in it] and getting rid of guns. I don't have any (that I know of) but if I did, nobody is going to get it/them. I'm stupid though - while my purse was being searched, I told them there were 5 handguns, a dozen AR15s, and a couple of microfiber crossbows. I wouldn't have said it if they hadn't been searching my purse. They laughed. I laughed. My doctor most certainly did NOT laugh. Oopses! Some people have no sense of humor!!

That's my kind of humour, telling off authorities in a friendly manner when they are being a mite over-the-top.

Here's something to laugh about: used to be when buying computer parts from the US online to have them shipped here, you had to fill out a form about intended use et c. Most questions were ordinary, like "Is youer purchase intended for retail?" and such.

Now comes the fun part:

"Are you or have you ever been suspected of (mark as applicable): war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide?"

"Do you intend to use the equipment in the committing of acts of terrorism?"

"Are you intending to use the equipment ordered to make nuclear weapons?"

And so on in the same vein. Friend of mine filled in "Yes" on all the weird stuff to see what would happen. Couple of weeks later, he gets a call from someone claiming to be an agent of the FBI, a very very tired voice who belonged to someone the job of who it was to phone and check people who ticked those boxes.

Makes me chuckle to think of it - that's gub'mint! Got to appear to do something, anything, all the time.

Too funny! I'm always tempted to do that. I do feel sorta sorry for that doctor. She is a resident and is obviously not used to patients. The attending MD (her boss) had absolutely no sense of humor either. Not a good combination! My sense of humor gets away from me and normies can't handle it. I worked as a psych admitting worker for a couple of years and I used to help train the more skittish residents to calm the F down. I got good at diagnosing patients, too. Fun times! It really was a fun job...most of the time.

OMG is Cali/LA corrupt. I'm watching a Dave Rubin interview with Patrick Bet (of valuetainment) and there the government can come around and demand addiotnal taxation from you if you're business see's growth. Per the guy's tax accountant you don't have to pay the tax unless he government comes knocking and demands it. That's some next level mafioso tactics

Expand full comment

Sounds like here: the taxation agency can argue in their own court that you have had incomes you haven't declared and paid taxes on, and then it's up to you to prove them wrong.

Sweden used to be censured by the UN for this in years past.

Friend of mine had a piercing studio and got hit with a demand for the eq. of $7 000 back taxes after he put his business on hold (there's a formal procedure to that without disbanding the business entirely) - their argument basically boiled down to: "We think you've been working on the side of your day-job and pocketing the money - pay up!"

He won, eventually, which coast him almost $7 000 in outlays. If he want to try and get that back, he'd have to sue the taxation agnecy for it...

Effing HA is more honest!

Taxation abuse is global because the elite have enough control over enough nations that they can use that control to advance punitive Taxation in order to speed up the wealth transfer. The ability to tax is the ability to destroy.

And in less than 200 years they've transformed America from being anti-taxation to most fully embracing it and often many making excuses for the governments abusive tax policy. Like with all things they snuck in taxes under teh guise of an emergency and because its teh government once they got that power they never relinquished it. With the dumbing down of each new generation of Americans via the public education system, they've convinced the majority that without government taxation America would slip into 3rd world status. Taxation was created to transfer wealth in a slow and incremental fashion and so as to give government the power to legally steal from you. Taxation enables theft of income while property taxation enables theft of real property and as a bonus it means no citizens ever really owns any property. One simply gives from owing 2 lenders to owing just the one and that one can just take your property where as at least anyone else seeking outstanding funds from you has to put a lean on your property. Eliminate property taxation as it exists now where they can take your home for non-payment and their control over Americans will be very loosened. The first state in America that gets rid of property taxes as they work now and makes it so the government can't take ones property will be the state with the greatest economic growth and prosperity in history because many will flock to that state. In fact I believe TX has the ability to be that state if we could find Freedom loving republicans with a backbone to do something. The first defense tactic will be "but what about the kids and school" where the proper response is "we already fund much of public education thru the lottery and not taxes anyway". The states does provide some supplemental funds b/c the lottery doesn't cover it all but still it alone is not a valid excuse to not put an end to property taxation as it works now. They made sure to sell the public on the idea of property taxes back when all but the wealthy few didn't own property anyway and they were told that this would only impact , be paid by, the wealthy; let the rich people pay for your kids education. Worked like a champ, same tactic they used for income taxes initially saying only the wealthy would pay it and then after acceptance over time they expand who all has to pay it. most of teh Feds power expansion has been achieved thru selling some lie to gain some new power/ability that afterwards is expanded quietly and w/o fan fare.

I can’t get excited about RFK Jr. running for president, either as a Dem or an Independent.

He’s way too far to the left for my taste and I don’t believe that he can get enough votes to win.

He’d be better than Biden, but that’s not a very high bar to reach.

He’d still have to have support of a party in Congress and that would naturally come from the Democrats......with all that implies.

He’d be about as ‘independent’ as Bernie Sanders.

The other problem is the possibility that he could take more votes from Trump than from Biden and thus ensure a Biden win...and four more years of misery .

If he's from the left, wouldn't he 'take' more votes from Biden? This is my first instinct.

Great news indeed. He could not go on within what once was the democratic party and he knew it. He also cannot enter the republican party because a large part is just as corrupt. I think he will get voters from both parites who are just as fed up as me with the retirement home that is the govt, and with all those filling their pockets abusing the people. I hope he wins, and I hope he lives to tell it.

Great post! I've been telling this to folks in and near to the Kennedy camp since before he launched his campaign. Still doesn't get past the election rigging problem, though. Nor the many other critical things RFK Jr leaves unsaid nor his purposeful blindness re Israel. IMO no lone heroes will get us out of this mess. It's a time for individual collective responsibility. We need new systems and they need to come from us out of a new energy.

It doesn't get past the rigging problem, but it makes it much more difficult in the 2024 election (IMO), whereas the rules still leave "the steal" wide open. It might be the best we can hope for this go-around.

I was VERY happy to hear him talk about the need for secure elections in which all Americans can vote.

Expand full comment

But the HOW are we going to get fair elections is yet to be addressed, for it will take an enormous grassroots effort at every single voting precinct. These votes are being changed in the counting and in the transferring of data and it's undetectable. Then there's simply the reporting -- the cabal own the media who announce the "winners." This goes way beyond 2000 mules. Even places with supposedly "good" election systems are clearly dealing with installed puppets -- Canada, UK. Hand counted paper ballots counted in public are the closest thing to verifiable, but even that isn't enough. Sadly, our democracy is a myth.

Paper ballots counted in public before they ever leave the polling station is the best 'answer' I can come up with -- and I'm optimistic that RFK understands the problem....I just think a whole lot of people WANT an in-auditable system.
