Stunning that the date/time groups were removed. Not sure if that can be justified except as an embarrassment.

And when the unredacted files inevitably come out, the agency will look doubly bad for having removed them in the first place.

As the FBI was embarrased when the full 1023 appeared. Grassley had the original from a whistle-blower, spot of trouble there. I suspect there are many on the inside who don't appreciate what the bosses have been doing - making them part of the dishonor.

LOL I am not nearly big enough to catch the notice of the 'established' people like Tim Pool. (And being kicked off Twitter, that's likely how it will stay.)

Interestingly I see that the Epoch Times appears to have a lot of (all of?) the video from the day

Unsurprisingly it entirely fails to back up key MSM/Deep State narratives

Why has Ray Epps never been charged and gone before a jury of his peers?

Expand full comment

It's really quite hilarious:

Me: "Ray Epps is a fed."

Them: "THERE'S NO PROOF OF THAT."

Me: "Well let's arrest him then."

Them: "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Expand full comment

To hear Ray Epps tell it, it’s Fox News’s fault that his life was ruined in at least two ways.

The first and most obvious is that the right-wing cable news channel repeatedly and energetically insisted over the course of months that Epps must somehow have been involved in triggering the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, a function of his purported (and nonexistent) role as a government provocateur. This was mostly driven by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who mentioned him in at least 20 episodes of his prime-time show.

-----------

I would argue this was mostly driven by the video of Epps telling people to go into the capitol on the night before and on the day of.

-----------

This attention, rooted in misconceptions if not willful dishonesty, made Epps a central focus of conspiracy theories about the riot. He shuttered his business, and he and his wife moved in order to avoid unwanted attention and threats.

-----------

At this point we're not even living on the same planet. Epps is a conspiracy theory, end of story. Why do these idiot right wingers keep promoting this conspiracy?

The story used to be that Epps didn't go into restricted Capitol grounds -- but tape shows that's not the case. Besides, the feds arrested Toriquo (sp) and he wasn't even in DC! They can't explain why they haven't arrested him because his behavior is quite clearly more 'radical' than nearly all of the people who are being sentenced to years in prison.

And it certainly doesn't help that the New York Times, the 1/6 Committee, and 60 Minutes keep running fawning stories about the guy. They can't exactly explain why THIS ONE GUY is the ONLY GUY IN THE COUNTRY who was innocent on 1/6.

Anything else? :)

"The video filmed on Jan. 5, 2021, in which he says protesters would need to go into the Capitol the following day involved an actual agitator, right-wing personality Tim Gionet."

-------------------------------------------------

The language here is remarkable, isn't it? I had to read it a couple of times before I fully realized what Bump did there.

Expand full comment
author

Indeed. Why on earth would the indenity of the guy filming matter?

It wouldn't. It DOESN'T. But it's amazing misdirection surrounding the fact that Epps is on video on January 5th telling people they need to go into the Capitol building.

I'd love to see this Washington Post article dissected line by line in a post showing how to write a profoundly dishonest article without actually lying.

But in my view it would be most useful if paired with a similar type of article from a right-wing publication, because they do this sort of thing too.

Imagine creating modules for HS kids that really, really showed them how one crafts effective misdirection of the readership.

My disappointment with "rightist" (when did that term start replacing "conservative" etc. etc.?) thinkers obsessed with the education of the young is that none of them will, I think, examine how *everyone* does this. They don't really want kids to learn truly independent thought either.

If we assume that the FBI helped coordinate a setup on January 6th, everything in those emails (including key redactions), and all the subsequent events make sense. Why didn't the FBI want the National Guard to intervene? Because it was THEIR operation, and it would suck if their assets got roughed up, arrested, or worse by other law enforcement agencies.

The big question is, what turned it from an unruly but "peaceful" demonstration, that probably would've felt like a Trump rally but without him there, to an incursion of the Capitol that could be called an insurrection.

This isn't a new point to make, but it's still not resolved.

Here's the other side: A Capitol Police Lieutenant spills the beans: Assistant Chief Yogananda [something] sat in the Command Center and remained silent when asked for directions on how to protect the legislators. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkCUHHlnv58

Here's Chief Sund confirming that the CP was given no intelligence and no National Guard backup for hours: https://twitter.com/TheThe1776/status/1689808524132646912

He confirmed that Pelosi specifically denied his request for National Guard in the days before J6 and that General Milley denied his request during the tumult, saying it would be "bad optics."

When you add that to Ray Epps, this all looks like a carefully orchestrated FBI entrapment plot, with loads of prominent Democratic conspirators. I'm saying this as a former MSNBC Leftist viewer that is furious about being lied to for years about Russiagate...

You would prefer that Biden and the Democrats get another four years to finish ruining the country?

After the last three years, I’m one of those people who will crawl over broken glass and red hot coals to vote for Trump (or whoever wins the Republican primaries.... most likely Trump).

I want to see the look on the faces, and hear the whining and gnashing of teeth, of all the corrupt a-holes who think that they own this country and it’s government..... and who think that they can simply impose their will on the American people.

Everyone knows that Trump isn’t perfect.

But he was still was a far, far better President than the one currently inhabiting the White House....

Funny thing about life. It ain't a seesaw, where if one guy is in the "down" position, the other guy must be in the "up" one.

Sometimes they're all lousy, and often it's for a variety of different reasons. Sometimes those reasons have some crossover too.

I don't want none of 'em.

Been around for sixty eight years. So I've been paying attention for fifty two of them. Trump is by far the best president we've had in well over 100 years. Just by what he didn't gave to do to turn our economy and country around on a dime. It's amazing how much investor money was freed up for just those four short years. He didn't do that. But his politics did. The whole world was at peace. No wars going on. Hm. That was horrible. What in the actual fuvk is wrong with you?

I’m not sure that I blame you.

In normal times I might even agree, but these aren’t normal times.

I truly see continued Biden/Democrat rule as an existential threat to the future of this country.

Four more years of this will be the end of constitutional rule, not to mention our standard of living and way of life.

If Biden and the Dems are re-elected, he/they will claim a mandate to impose their vision of the future (whatever that is) on the rest of us.... and they will do it.

Unfortunately, the only way I see to stop this is to re-elect Donald Trump. If someone has a better idea, I’m willing to listen.....

Agreed, Mrs.Mc, and every day when he does something even MORE egregious, I am grateful for the "set" displayed by Sec.Ciao's Husband in the Summer of '15 refusing " just a hearing" to " Moderate Merrick" ... not overstating --- he may have saved the tatters of what remains of our Nation ( & likely a 1/2 M unborn annually), by his standing against the Left and enabling 3 GOP SCOTUS appts.

Two things jump out at me here:

(1) There is no reason to redact dates and times. None. In fact they are integral to building a complete picture, which would suggest that they were redacted to handicap building that picture.

(2) Everyone is talking about Miller and not arming the guard, but I find this even more suspicious if we're going to move from this was an intelligence "failure" to they wanted this to happen or even made it happen: "To use Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets or to conduct ISR or Incident, Awareness, and Assessment activities." He's barring the National Guard from gathering information. Let that sink in. My guess is they were not in on the plan.
