I’ve written a couple of articles about the proud boys trial as it was happening, and Julie Kelly has done an amazing job of cataloging the insanity inside the courtroom. From the judge not allowing the defense to mention text messages deleted by the government to the government planting a confidential informant IN THE DEFENSE TEAM, this trial had all the classic hallmarks of a show trial.
A show trial is a public trial in which the guilt or innocence of the defendant has already been determined. The actual trial has as its only goal the presentation of both the accusation and the verdict to the public so they will serve as both an impressive example and a warning to other would-be dissidents or transgressors.
Show trials tend to be retributive rather than corrective and they are also conducted for propagandistic purposes. When aimed at individuals on the basis of protected classes or characteristics, such trials are examples of political persecution.
Last week the sham finally came to its pre-determined verdict: Enrique Tarrio (who wasn’t even in the capitol), Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs and Zachary Rehl guilty of seditious conspiracy. The Department of Justice is seeking multi-decade sentences similar to the ones recommended for the Oath Keepers who were convicted of the same thing. (Not any violence!)
It all sounds terrible — especially if you read the mainstream media — until you actually read the relevant statute:
This entire statute is a loophole big enough to drive a convoy of trucks through! The government isn’t even charging the defendants with any sort of insurrection or planned overthrow of the government! This statute could apply to literally any political protest! Remember Portland’s famous “Wall of Moms” that was erected in order to keep federal agents from arresting violent protestors attacking a federal courthouse?
Guilty of seditious conspiracy! 10 years at a minimum for all the outlaw moms!
Harriet Tubman might have led hundreds of slaves to freedom in the mid-1800s — a cause for celebration today — but let us not forget she was part of a seditious conspiracy to “prevent, hinder, and delay the execution of any law.” Dig her up and throw her in prison!
Guilty of seditious conspiracy! How dare Chicago prosecutors stand in the way of the execution of a law in the United States! A decade in the slammer!
And for………whatever this is:
Of course, the fact that the seditious conspiracy statute COULD apply to anybody is exactly the point. The people playing on the “right” team will never face charges like this. They said that Ray Epps wasn’t charged because he didn’t go into the Capitol — yet that excuse was just destroyed by the conviction of not-even-in-DC Enrique Tarrio. Instead, Epps gets fawning stories in the NYT and on 60 Minutes, an even got a sort-of apology from the 1/6 Committee! Gee, why would Democrats defend the one person who’s on tape THE NIGHT BEFORE telling people to go into the Capitol even though he “might be arrested” for saying it? It’s a mystery!
Here’s another example: For weeks, a section of the country literally declared itself the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone — outside the laws of the United States. Jay Inslee and the rest of the idiots allowed it to happen while trying to blame the entire episode on Donald Trump. It was only after CHAZ/CHOP took the worldwide lead for murders per capita that Inslee finally acted.
Did we see any insurrection charges or multi-decade seditious conspiracy charges for the people who literally attempted to break away from the United States and drove the police out — by force? Quite the opposite! Watch the video in the linked article: Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan DEFENDS THE PROTESTORS because Trump threatened to retake CHAZ.
Is Jenny Durkan spending time in a federal penitentiary for seditious conspiracy? Of course not. These charges aren’t for the people who HELP the narrative, only the people who undermine it. Remember the case of “Ricky Vaughn”, who was convicted of voter suppression for posting memes while people who posted similar memes from the other side were ignored?
“For my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law.” — Peruvian dictator Óscar Benavides
This will be the rule going forward. Now and then Biden admits it:
See, we can’t let He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named win the election again, because Our Democracy wouldn’t be able to endure the will of the voters. Therefore, Literally-Worse-Than-Voldemort gets THE LAW.
And that’s why the proud boys trial was so important — it’s the next step in the Democrat’s Hail Mary to prevent Trump from running in 2024. Already, Democrats and their sycophants in the media are rabbling about “getting the ringleader”. (Of course, they promised to “get him” before he even took office.)
And while Trump may be their next important target, they certainly won’t be stopping there. Consider new documents uncovered via Freedom of Information Act requests by America First Legal that detail how the Department of Homeland Security aims to use citizens to report on the “wrongthink” of others. I use “Pete” as an example because he’s basically me:
In this role-play event, readers are put into a situation with multiple “choices” to handle Pete’s wrongthink — in this case posting on the “wrong” social media sites:
“You’ve seen him post on some radical sites with violent tendencies.”
What the hell does this even MEAN? I’ve watched multiple murders on Twitter video — is Twitter a radical site with violent tendencies? Why does what OTHER people post on a social media site make the slightest difference with regards to our “abusive” subject? (Note there’s no actual evidence of Pete being abusive, just the declaration — my guess is because “Anti-gov/authority” wasn’t “bad” enough.)
DHS is simply planting the idea that “radicalization” can happen to anybody — and therefore everybody must be under constant surveillance by their neighbors. This is the obvious and predicted — by Ron Paul and others — consequence of the USA PATRIOT Act and other freedom-smashing edicts.
DHS basically wants to turn the citizenry into Stasi informants — tattling on their neighbors for the slightest “violation.” (Which just happens to cover dissent — weird!)
Can you believe the NERVE of this person, being increasingly concerned about the welfare of children, including the unborn? Ann is quite obviously a domestic terrorist who should be — at the minimum— placed on a government watchlist for her seditious activity:
Obviously if you’re Ann’s preacher and she comes to you with a (fairly obvious) religious question, the correct thing to do isn’t to answer her question — it’s to go behind her back and ask HER HUSBAND why Ann is acting so crazy! (Women, am I right, Uncle Sam?)
It’s not even a stretch to imagine this type of government-encouraged citizen surveillance would be used to “report” people going to a political rally — maybe even a DONALD TRUMP rally! Nothing screams seditious conspiracy more than attending a rally of a candidate for president — except maybe watching a CNN town hall of said candidate. Here’s AOC discussing last night’s town hall:
AOC and the rest of “the left” have been complaining about CNN “platforming” Trump since the town hall was announced — as if Trump needs CNN more than CNN needs Trump. This is how they will attempt to keep control of the conversation — viciously attacking anybody who “platforms” Trump or other “domestic terrorists” who aren’t interested in driving America off the cliff.
Because obviously the way to save democracy is to prevent your political opponent from running — and barring that, preventing American citizens from listening to him.
And the worst part of this is that there’s absolutely zero trepidation from the left about any of this. Trump is SUPER BAD so it’s okay to wage lawfare against him and anybody who supports him. They have no idea that these rules will eventually be used AGAINST THEM (perhaps even by Trump!) once they are no longer useful to the establishment. (Remember how Portland sent in the National Guard the day after the election?)
There’s no doubt that once the lawfare turns on them, they’ll cry foul — but by that time it will be too late.
