Hmm...so, GoFundMe is for Statists (redundant?), and GiveSendGo is for Classical Liberals.

We seem to be naturally bifurcating into two societies. Talk about an experiment the founders (perhaps) did not anticipate! I've got a hypothesis as to which will produce sufficient wealth to survive, but I won't bore anyone with it.

Spent most of yesterday with good friends, intelligent people, but deluded. The topic of censorship & state surveillance came up. I’ll save the details but she quickly resorted to the well worn “I have nothing to hide” & “I don’t care if the government knows where I am and what I’m doing” trope. The implication, however implicit, is always a slightly puritanical “so you must have something to hide”. That’s how the governed subtly align themselves with the government in the misguided expectation that they are complying their way to freedom. Nop, you’re just bringing the rest of us down with you more quickly by willingly playing the part of useful idiot.

I asked her if she ever disagreed with anything the government said, ever, and would she want to be free to express her views on whatever it was. She said she did and would. I reminded her that that could count as dissent, or misinformation. Did she know how close the establishment is getting to passing legislation to brand the expression of views counter to the state endorsed narrative as “domestic terrorism”? How long before she with nothing to hide finds the liberties she thinks the state has the right to bestow and withdraw according to its ideological whim are no longer hers by default?

Poco a poco, but there is so far to go with apparently intelligent people that I can see us losing this fight.

That's sort of like being against the First Amendment because you have nothing interesting to say. :/

It's also crazy to see the complete 180 when it comes to stuff like release all the videos from Jan. 6th. If it was such a crazy insurrection surely the release of the tapes will prove it, right?

Nope, it's all about power. They'll do or say anything to get it.

"These are the people who would have turned in Anne Frank." - So true, that's exactly my sayin'all along: all these Karens (no matter what gender they "identify" w/) snitching on and complaining about mask dissidents for instance are exactly the kind of ppl that would have revealed hidden Jews to the Nazis .. or sneak on muslimas not wearing their hijab correctly!

Some people have to stay home to make Karen feel safe, but other people have to go to work to make Karen feel comfortable. And if you object, you're being selfish.

Hopefully this will wake more people up, when they realise their money can just be taken on a whim.

They'll wake up and beg for /more/ control so that the [this week's heretics] can't exist.

That's how we are when we're scared - we do anything to make the bad go away.

Adults chanting magical spells (or prayers, same thing) and performing rituals to ward off the bad or little kiddies clutching their stuffed toys fervently wishing that tonight the bad won't come, or otherwise sane rational people conditoned to hate those labeled evil by the moral authoritie.

It's different only in scope.

Crypto will be co-opted. The leaders and controllers will be offered a seat at the table in exchange for being allowed to continue breathing and to be acknowledged as 1%-ers. There's not a single "alternative" thing, subculture, technology or anything else that can withstand the siren call of the creed of greed.

Dosn't mean anyone should stop fighting, quite the opposite. By fighting, you make yourself stronger, and if your opponent slacks off and grows complacent, well next maybe it's you who gets invited.

Oh man. I predicted this a week ago. These people never learn. Crypto: person to person. No governments or tyrants can seize it, especially privacy coins like Monero. They could have moved millions to crypto by just asking for crypto donations at the start. When the hell will people wake up?

People used to say "I have PayPal why would I need anything else?"

Now they understand what online poker players understood years ago. If government can just swoop in and take your money, is it really yours?

Exactly. The fallacy going around now is that because the government seized stolen bitcoin from bitfinex hack, after spending 6 years tracking it down with court orders that they can just seize anyone's bitcoin, but they haven't banned crypto nor could they if they wanted without completely going North Korea on the country. And the truckers could just convert it to monero and move it to cold storage, wash it a few times and they'll never be able to track it.

I hate to say this, but this will eventually apply to crypto too. Governments can't resist.

Oh, they'll try. But the beauty of decentralization is that there's nowhere to just 'shut off.' Governments will attack the gateways that allow people to move between cryptos and dollars, but I have a feeling that will work exactly as well as government attacking weed dispensaries.

Right now governments are still in the 'we'll make our own crypto!' phase, not understanding that the entire point of crypto is to get the creation of money out of the hands of the politicians and bankers.

Governments are moving quickly to set in place their own version of cryptocurrency that is 100% under control of central banks. They will force conventional sellers to transact in state run crypto or risk the legal consequences. This will drive some transactions underground but ultimately nearly all of us will still be buying our groceries from a state sanctioned store (restaurants, taxis, trains etc.). Look how quickly cash stopped being king.

There would be no way to enforce it without going full North Korea. If they ban crypto a massive black market will rise up without any taxation for governments. Consumers would transact with each other in the free market without government control. They'd lose out on billions in sales taxes. But they are probably stupid enough to try to monopolize their centralized scam coins.

99.9% of western society is not equipped either by capability or inclination to indulge such a shift in behaviour. It simply wouldn’t work. For a minority who are able to adapt then it would be difficult but I don’t think adaptation to dystopia is the right response. Somehow (don’t ask me how) the imposition and enforcement of a draconian transactional system needs to be rebutted at the governmental level.

I am always reluctant to use the words “civil” and “war” together but, well, you know…

Yes, it's being allowed to be legal right now to onboard the population to digital currencies so they can pull that decentralized rug and ban it when they unleash their CBDCs. "Look, here's ours! You have no choice but to use ours now!" China, Russia, Sweden, EU are all in various stages of unleashing their scam coins.
