New Mexico Governor Says US Constitution Is Not Absolute, Her Power Is
Grisham’s violation of Constitutional rights is no surprise
On Friday, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued an emergency public health order suspending the ability of New Mexico citizens to carry firearms (concealed or open-carry) in violent areas. (Violent as defined by the 'experts', of course — more on this later.) This effectively destroys the Second Amendment in some areas and leaves citizens of New Mexico at the mercy of the criminals who are already breaking the law. (In a great example of clown world governance, the governor does NOT expect criminals to follow her new rules, but presses on anyway.)
As far as things to Scream about go, this one is pretty high up the list, and for a multitude of reasons. Let's start with the fact this is not a duly passed law that has gone through the the New Mexico legislature as normal — instead it is a dictate from a single person. (Democracy is only important sometimes, you know.) The "public health" order basically uses the foundation laid during the covid years to expand the power of the executive (in this case, the governor).
Side note: Remember how I keep saying that we should listen to the people who have been correct instead of the people who are always wrong? This article from a year and a half ago seems prescient…..
And Governor Grisham was NOT shy when it came to covid restrictions, which were quietly some of the harshest in the country (without much effect, it must be said). In fact, she’s not shy about overstepping her authority in the slightest:
With all of those new rules and regulations, it’s a mystery why is violence still spiking. It’s like the criminals don’t care about the law (which Grisham understands, remember) and all these rules only affect the already law-abiding. Knowing this, many New Mexico Sheriffs are refusing to enforce this new order outright.
Speaking of Sheriffs, it almost goes without saying that this emergency public health order does NOT include police officers or licensed security personnel. This means — as always — that Governor Grisham will be protected by guns everywhere she goes, while you’re denied the right to self-defense on the ‘dangerous’ streets of Albuquerque. This (typical) two-tiered system is yet another reason to hate the order.
Also reminiscent of the covid rules are the arbitrary thresholds and boundaries of the executive order - as if violence or viruses care about a county border. Additionally, we have learned all too well that "official" statistics are incredibly easy to juke. ("The Wire" nailed it!) There's nothing stopping Grisham from altering the parameters of the order, either. All of these factors mean that the order will be enforced wherever she wants it enforced and not enforced wherever she wants it not enforced.
At least the order only lasts 30 days.........maybe. It can be extended at the whim of the governor, making that 30-day period simply a trial balloon for a longer infringement of gun rights. And the incredibly insidious thing (from my point of view) is that this "stop-and-go" type of emergency will be moot by the time the already-filed lawsuits get through the courts -- leaving the order technically not ruled Unconstitutional. (IIRC, this is how the Biden admin dealt with the mask issue in at least one instance.)
In this way, the order is another perfect example of the relentless assault on our rights coming from our government — ironic because protecting our rights is the only actual duty of government.
If there's a silver lining in this gathering storm cloud, it's that the response to the order has been swift and severe. Condemnation has poured in from around the globe, and two New Mexico lawmakers are beginning the process to remove Grisham from office. Multiple protests, some open-carry, have ignited in the state as well. This makes me hopeful that more people understand exactly where we are as a nation, and will stand up and say WE DO NOT CONSENT!
Side note 2: Some Screamers from New Mexico are attempting to organize some sort of meetup in the nearish future. If you’re interested and in the area (or not in the area, really), contact me at simulationcommander@protonmail.com and I’ll get you looped in.
Finally, I’ve saved the best for last! Not only do we have a Bonnie update, we have Bonnie videos!
