Should we address the elephant in the room -- members of Congress should not be regularly dying in office. If they do die in office, THEY SHOULD AT LEAST TELL US THAT. This whole situation with McConnell is a fucking joke and an insult to all of us.

Yancey Ward's avatar

Damn it, I had breakfast with Mitch and Lindsey just this morning- they seemed fine to me- can't believe Graham was already dead.

Mitch's avatar

You see dead people

SCA's avatar

Well. Much must be forgiven for the man who kept Merrick Garland off the Supreme Court. This politics thingy, it really is war.

SimulationCommander's avatar

True, but he was only able to do that because the GOP literally had the votes to shoot down any candidate that Obama threw up.

Knowing what we know now, keeping Garland off the court was like dodging a nuke.

SCA's avatar

McConnell was ruthless on anything that mattered to him. Unfortunately most of what mattered to him was bad for us.

But, like I said, still....

BetterOffRed's avatar

A rose among the comment thorns. "Always look on the bright side of life!"

SCA's avatar

I really loathe the guy; can't think of any GOP Senator I might have even the slightest warm feelings for--but saving the Supreme Court is one great big helluva major accomplishment regardless of what shenanigans his wife has been up to maybe all his life in politics.

agree with you 100%

They’re doing a “Weekend at Bernie’s” to try to avoid a special election deadline so they can appoint a new scumbag.

Tardigrade's avatar

I must say this is very plausible.

SimulationCommander's avatar

And that might work if it was an election for dogcatcher of Bumfuck, Iowa -- but we're talking about the Senate!

E. Grogan's avatar

IMO the Senate has become as ridiculous as Weekend at Bernie's, just my 2 cents.

Warmek's avatar

Don't worry, we'll get the thing for real when Sanders goes and there's a critical vote on the floor.

AndyinBC's avatar

Its getting harder and harder to tell the difference!

I saw a Schrodinger McConnell comic pane yesterday (er Friday) in Dr. Robert Malone's Friday Funny column.

If I'd had coffee, I would have spit it out.

Tardigrade's avatar

As a collector of Schrödinger memes, I thought that was priceless.

Justin's avatar

I don't like to celebrate death, but Graham seemed to be an active proponent of war. Any war.

And I'm not.

AwakeNotWoke's avatar

He was big time into killing human beings. It really seemed to get his rocks off. What happened came as a shock. But things could have been worse. Would it have made any difference if he had got one more booster? Imagine how much worse things could have been if he was not fully vaxxed and boosted

SimulationCommander's avatar

At least he was consistent on that :/

Justin's avatar

Yes. Yes, he was.

Someone told me about Pelosi (in a picture) in Ukraine collecting bribes.

I looked at the picture closer and pointed out Graham in the same shot.

I'm conservative, and wasn't making a partisan comment. Just pointing out that people on both sides seemed to be feeding at that trough.

Warmek's avatar

I, for one, did not take it that way. There are members of the Uniparty in both colors of sash. The vast majority of people in either color of sash are members of the Uniparty, for that matter, IMO.

SimulationCommander's avatar

Pretty sure he was toasting with McCain over there in 2014, though it's late and I'm not 100% on that.

Edit: It wasn't during the 2014 revolution, it was during 2016.

Unfortunately, he is very replaceable and will be soon.

Of all the people in Congress who have one foot in the grave and it’s Lindsey Graham who dies suddenly. If cardiac arrest ends up the cause of death we’ll definitely know it was due to the “Covid” death jabs.

SimulationCommander's avatar

BREAKING: An initial examination from the DC Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) died as a result of “Aortic Dissection due to Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease”. In layman’s terms, this means a tear in the aorta caused by hardening & narrowing of arteries as a result of underlying cardiovascular disease.

His last press release was Friday, so yeah, this was a "sudden illness"?

Appropriately, it was about sanctioning, not Russia, but countries that buy things from Russia.

Thanks for letting us know. It is strange how RINOs keep getting sick/dead. Maybe a virulent strain of rinosinusitus is going around?

Everyone be safe out there.

SimulationCommander's avatar

The Neocons are approaching the end of their batteries.

Arne's avatar

Sounds more like he battled a heart attack, and lost.

Brief and sudden illness after a trip to Ukraine. Poisoned?

Rogelio W., agent of the self's avatar

It's a biblical event, I suppose. Something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hophni_and_Phinehas

Now we need the witch of Endor to summon Senator Strom Thurmond from Australia, to finish Graham's term.

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

At 74, I’m am increasingly less hateful in wishing people a swift and painful death. That being said , it’s a good thing I don’t believe in Hell because it would be SRO by now with politicians from both sides.

Phil Davis's avatar

Graham loved war more than America.

Tardigrade's avatar

Mitch McConnell reference is hilarious.

The Azbakhians attacked the low hanging fruitcake, then the slow reptile.

SimulationCommander's avatar

I'm a little upset because I was planning on a longer, funnier piece about the ridiculousness of his situation.

Now he's a footnote.

Melissa Thorn's avatar

To me, Graham embodied entrenched power. He'd been amassing it for a long time and, quite literally, had a death grip on it. He used it to stoke his ego and delighted in often doing the opposite of what many of the constituents he was supposed to represent really wanted. I'm sure he made a fortune from supporting the endless war machine grift. And I can imagine him embracing a phrase that tony members of the British parliament used for the longest time -- "your betters" -- when distinguishing themselves from the people they represented. Probably why he pursued the practice of law. It gave him the tools he needed to exert power over other.

Steenroid's avatar

Shocking that Cocaine Mitch hasn’t commented 🤔

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

I’ve been a critic over the years of Graham’s enthusiasm for war and foreign military aid, but after reading testimonies from South Carolinians this morning, it seems his commitment to resolving his constituents local issues was constant. His sudden death within hours of returning from Kiev is a bit odd.

DanBC's avatar

The stress of a long flight, perhaps.

Long flights like his recent one from Kiev, puts unnatural stresses on the body. For young, able bodied, healthy people, it’s nothing. For older people, it’s normal to experience minor edema, swelling of the ankles and feet. Most of this disappears in a day or so, but if you’re not healthy, watch out.

Not saying it’s a cause, but it can be a catalyst, to present heart disease. As an aortic dissection, he had Zero Chance of survival.

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

I’m feeling less “ conspiracy-ee “ with the aortic tear diagnosis. He had put on some pounds of late, and really was not looking very healthy. And yes, travel with age comes with consequences….just adjusting to the time difference is not as easy as it used to be. I hope Graham was not alone .

DanBC's avatar

I just experienced this for the first time at 63, and I’m in pretty good shape, changing my diet a couple months ago. It kind of shocked me, until I read its “normal”.

Limit sugar, limit salt

May Lindsey Graham Burn in Hell alongside McCain and McConnell

I HOPE 🤞 DONALD TRUMP AND BENJAMIN NETANYAHU ARE NEXT

Graham Trump McCain Netanyahu all on the same “Warp Speed” Zionist Murdering Machine Team!

“And to keep Benjamin Netanyahu out of the courts and in office for another term.”
