Ooooh….my mother used to call statements like this “idle threats.” Women should actually be offended by this bully.

If a woman's right to bodily autonomy extends to what is essentially another human being inside her, shouldn't a man's bodily autonomy at least extend to him having the right to refuse masking, injections, draft, and similar infractions of boily autonomy?

After all, his body and his choice only affects him.

"My body, my choice" has been deprioritized since the deplorables started using it against forced vaccination.

'My body, my choice' was always about exactly one issue. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have spent their whole careers locking people up for smoking the wrong plant.

I'm down with that. What about everyone gets bodily sovreignity? For everything. Or is that too 'libertarian'?

It's one of them things that are so much a given that no-one ever thought it needed to be put (back) into laws.

And it's not libertarian at all, it's pure reactionary atavism. Look up the Code of Hammurabi or Roman law and you'll see that in that ancient society, citizens - and slaves too - had much stronger safeguards vis-a-vis eachother and the crown, than today.

I dislike and heartliy mock libertarianism for the same reason (well, for one of the same reasons) I detest socialism: it is progressive, utopian and is concerned not with how humans are (not to mention how much race and culture matters) but how they ought to be, as evidenced by the sad fact that every libertarian (as does every socialist, pacifist and so on) always wind up stating that if people would only live according to its principles, the theory/ideology would work.

And that's a bit like yelling "learn to swim," to a person drowning.

How much worse can it get?

Yes, I should have never asked, Commander!

One of our communists (yes, we have real old school commies in parliament, don't ask me how) suggested a few years back that electrical and hybrid cars be equipped with a myriad of tiny propellers on the outside, to create electricity from the wind that starts blowing whenever you drive.

People like this make policy and law. Wanna trade Biden for that guy? I'll happily throw in P&P.

Yep. And project veritas gets raided for it even though they don't have it.

What he doesn't understand is women are just as conflicted on abortion as men are. I read some stats today. Only 10% of people believe that abortion should be allowed up to 40 weeks. Only 8% believe it should be banned entirely. The majority are for abortion up to the 15 week mark. Which means that most people have a nuanced opinion that falls in line with neither an absolute right to abortion nor an absolute prohibition on abortion.

Abortion hasn't "moved the needle" on the midterms because these people think their extreme is more palatable than the right's extreme. Given a choice, I'll vote for the side that didn't take a flamethrower to the economy and figure out the rest later, despite my personal beliefs. Honestly, I think there will be a range of laws varying by state (agree or not), and if you really want an abortion, even later in the pregnancy (regardless of the fact that we have plenty of ways to avoid pregnancy and the morning after pill is nearly ubiquitous along with early term chemical abortions), you'll be able to get it, so we have bigger things to worry about.

Expand full comment

Seems like it should be an issue for the states. Which it is now.

Expand full comment

That depends on your perspective, even if I happen to agree with you. Everything surrounding COVID has convinced me that a more decentralized system with more left up to the states is better than a centralized system with a federal government with too much power to abuse. But, again, having said that, there is something to be said for uniformity of laws across states so expectations, if not the amorphous concept of rights, are somewhat the same, especially about something as life changing as abortion (like marriage). But again . . . I still would rather the hodgepodge of abortion laws than the way we were heading.

Exactly. I said it previously, but it bears repeating --- nearly all states will end up with restrictions that look very similar to Europe -- 12 to 20 weeks. Pushing for 'unlimited abortion' will almost certainly backfire, especially with so many other problems affecting all families.

I've said for *years* that most people are completely unaware of exactly how liberal abortion policy was in the US. Casey v Planned Parenthood completely abolished the trimester policy set by Roe v Wade, and made abortion up until 40 weeks perfectly legal.

Abortion hasn't "moved the needle" because people are more concerned with extreme inflation, rising gas prices and just putting food on the table.

I know this won't be very popular to say, and I definitely know what a despicable person Joe Biden is, but I have this really weird feeling of pity for this guy. Maybe it's not pity for him but what/who he represents? This clown is being used in a brilliant way to keep the people focussing on and hating him when the real monsters are slithering and hiding behind the scenes.

But then again, we have Joe Biden's record from the last 40 years. It looks an awful lot like what we're seeing now.

Given his record of the last 40 years, he likely deserves his fate as one of the most vilified presidents ever. At least Pierce and Fillmore could read their lines.

I watched that live and he is beyond help. Can he be impeached? And, calling out the Supreme Court was beyond the pale. What a despicable low life. The Court never said you can’t have an abortion……they said there is nothing in the constitution regarding abortion. It’s up to each individual state where it belongs. PERIOD!…….And, to bring up something else that was pathetic…..did anybody else see the Biden’s before the media yesterday when Dr. Jill kept trying to get the doddering old fool to say God Bless America…….she kept telling him until he finally shoved the mic in her face and SHE HAD TO SAY IT!! He’s like an accident that keeps occurring over and over again and you just can’t avert your eyes. OMG!

We don't, but in the near future they'll be hiring pilots to fulfill racial and gender quotas instead of merit or competency.

They airlines have been doing that for some time. It does not take much research to discover the co-pilot that crashed Atlas Air 3591 played the race card on check rides to avoid having his type rating on the 767 yanked. The major airlines are 100% all in on the fully woke diversity, inclusion and equity programs.

In addition, the FAA has significantly affected the US air traffic control system with their hiring practices of controllers since 2008.
