So…..Kevin McCarthy has been fired as Speaker of the House. I was going to start this article off with a couple paragraphs about why I don’t like McCarthy, but what I wrote just a few weeks ago sums it up perfectly:
Now, it’s no secret I’m not a huge fan of McCarthy (even as far as politicians go). I think he’s a great example of a member of the Washington Generals of the Uniparty, and especially didn’t appreciate the statement from Dan Crenshaw (a fellow Generals member) that Republicans who refused to vote McCarthy for Speaker of the House were terrorists. As is typical in DC, eventually swamp monster McCarthy got the job — but only after promising to make the tapes of January 6th available to the public.
The importance of releasing these tapes can’t be overstated, because so much of the Democrats “case” in 2024 revolves around January 6th being exactly what the official narrative says it is — a very dubious assertion to say the least. McCarthy’s refusal to live up to his promise of releasing the tapes is one reason I dislike him, but he’s also been a reliable House General for the uniparty during his Speakership. (I think of him as the House version of Mitch McConnell.)
Ultimately, if you don’t deliver on your promises, you should be removed from your position — and that’s what happened here. But what I really find fascinating (though not surprising) in this story is the spin:
FAR-RIGHT GOP FACTION THROWS HOUSE INTO CHAOS
MCCARTHY OUTSED AFTER REPUBLICAN REBELLION
THESE EIGHT REPUBLICANS VOTED OUT KEVIN MCCARTHY!
But when we actually take a look at the vote, what we see is surprising (if you pay attention to media)…..
It turns out that the “right-wing rebellion” of the GOP included……208 democrats — every single one who voted, in fact. Only 3.67% voting Republicans voted to remove McCarthy, but according to the press these are the people responsible for the “chaos” that comes with not having a Speaker of the House. (I’m not really sure what that chaos entails, to be honest.)
If there’s a silver lining here, it’s that Jim Jordan has thrown his hat in the ring to become Speaker. In the most hilarious timeline (and therefore the one I’m rooting for), Donald Trump becomes Speaker of the House and gains access to all sorts of fun information about the swamp…….
But stepping back into reality and a level deeper into clown world, we find near-Speaker Hakeem Jefferies declaring this is a “solemn moment” and hopeful that “traditional Republicans will walk away from MAGA extremism” — the kind he JUST VOTED WITH.
“All the traditional Republicans who voted to keep Speaker McCarthy against me and the MAGA Republicans, I hope you will join me against the MAGA Republicans I just voted with to move the country past this moment I helped create.”
I guess you have to be a Democrat for it to make sense.
Biden is also expressing his concern that with this chaos, funding for Ukraine may be in jeopardy! But don’t worry, fellow Americans, the President assures us that a majority of BOTH parties are determined to follow through with our commitment to Ukraine that none of us actually agreed to.
What he’s REALLY worried about are those dirty MAGA extremists. You know who I’m talking about, and you know who they voted for last time — those insurrectionists.
In fact, in a story that surprises exactly zero Screamers, it turns out the FBI is targeting Trump supporters! When the people in charge haven’t faced consequences for running the “MAGA = terrorist” playbook, why wouldn’t they run it back for 2024?
Let’s get one thing clear — it won’t be support of Donald Trump that determines if one is a domestic terrorist, it will be non-support of an important issue such as covid or Ukraine.
But lest we think Democrats seriously believe MAGA Republicans are a threat, we must remember that Democrats literally boosted MAGA candidates during the 2022….then beat them by painting the MAGA movement as insurrectionist.
As with censorship, the bleating about domestic terrorism will certainly ramp up as we draw near to the 2024 election. For some of us, that’s old hat.
Of course, the Democrats are more than happy to have the media focus on the “chaos” in DC rather than the real chaos of life in America. They’re happy to sit back and lament the lack of Republican leadership so nobody talks about the lack of Democratic leadership.
Maybe if we vote harder next time?

Read Matt Gaetz's quotes. Think about what he is saying (perfectly).
*This* is why I support him, and why *all* libertarians should support him.
