Kevin McCarthy Opens Impeachment Inquiry So People Finally Stop Asking Him About It
The Generals take the floor…..
On Tuesday, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy officially opened an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, citing results of House investigations into possible corruption involving the “Biden brand” that I write about from time to time. This ‘big-boy’ move goes against McCarthy’s long-standing previous strategy of all things Biden:
Now, it’s no secret I’m not a huge fan of McCarthy (even as far as politicians go). I think he’s a great example of a member of the Washington Generals of the Uniparty, and especially didn’t appreciate the statement from Dan Crenshaw (a fellow Generals member) that Republicans who refused to vote McCarthy for Speaker of the House were terrorists. As is typical in DC, eventually swamp monster McCarthy got the job — but only after promising to make the tapes of January 6th available to the public.
The importance of releasing these tapes can’t be overstated, because so much of the Democrats “case” in 2024 revolves around January 6th being exactly what the official narrative says it is — a very dubious assertion to say the least. McCarthy’s refusal to live up to his promise of releasing the tapes is one reason I dislike him, but he’s also been a reliable House General for the uniparty during his Speakership. (I think of him as the House version of Mitch McConnell.)
Ultimately, I think at this point there’s simply too much evidence into Biden’s corruption to ignore, as Jonathan Turley lays out in a great article today. (How is everything I read from Turley my favorite thing I’ve read from Turley?) And when it comes down to it, one of the most important jobs of the Washington Generals is to keep the game believable. It was no longer believable that an opposition party would continue to ignore this evidence, so the Generals officially take the floor. (I’d love to be wrong about all this, but……….)
Reliably, reliable Uniparty pawn Chuck Schumer sought out the cameras with this rehearsed little spiel about bipartisanship — sounding remarkably like 2020 Donald Trump, if you only listen to his words:
Clearly Schumer has gotten the talking points memo that Democrats are trying to tie the impeachment process into keeping the government open, as if politicians can’t walk while chewing bubble gum. (Actually, with this group we might have a 50% failure rate at that particular task…………)
But if the politicians were so worried about a government shutdown, why did they just take a month off? (I guess we can’t have ‘emergencies’ interfering with vacations, can we?)
Another talking point from today’s memo revolves around the fact that McCarthy didn’t hold any kind of vote before opening this inquiry — and he suspiciously blames Nancy Pelosi:
Why would the media say such things, I wonder? Let’s find out:
Now, this is completely expected behavior, I just think it’s hilarious to see such stark examples of the complete reversal of ‘principles’ based on who’s investigating who.
What will also be completely expected behavior is the acquiescence of a few spineless “public servants” to go along with whatever the Uniparty wants. Here’s a breathing example of an aging Generals star from the Senate — retiring Mitt Romney:
This is the same Mitt Romney who was the lone “yes” vote in Trump’s first impeachment — over Ukraine, which now Romney thinks is the “best national defense spending ever.”
Looking back on Mitt Romney’s political career, I see somebody who spent it slowly but steadily — and ALWAYS in a dignified way — ceding political ground to the left and advancing the goals of the Uniparty. Honestly, it would be surprising if he DID take a stand on his way out the door.
I’ve been paying attention to politics long enough to know the Generals and the Globetrotters sometimes switch sides for a little while. Twenty years ago, we looked to the Democrats to save us from the evil empire of the Bush/Cheney administration. But they always managed to fold on the important stuff, didn’t they?
First they folded on the USA PATRIOT Act, a monstrosity that continues to this day and (unsurprisingly if you listened to Ron Paul) paved the way to ‘legally’ deny basic rights to certain Americans who fell afoul of government in some way or another.
Then they folded on Iraq, drawing us into another conflict across the world based on the dubious idea of “stopping terrorism.” (As if you can wage war on a tactic.)
First they told Bush “no way” on giving telecom companies immunity for spying on Americans, but after Obama won in 2008 and Democrats put on that Globetrotters uniform, the party (but not necessarily the voters) “pivoted” on the issue. A few years later, the courts cleaned up the aftermath, and just like that, telecom immunity was a settled issue — as was the spying.
In the Post-Trump era, I’ll point to the “squad” voting to fund Iraq part 2: Ukrainian Boogaloo as another example of disposable principles by the Democrats. So folding on the important stuff is not exclusively a problem with Republicans, by any means.
But in the modern political era, I think it’s fair to say the part of the Generals has been played by the right. John McCain never met a defense budget he didn’t like — even under Obama — and failed to kill Obamacare when he ACTUALLY had the chance. Mitch McConnell…..well, he’s just Mitch McConnell.
Ultimately, what we have in place is a system where the “Generals” lose just often enough — and in just the right places — to solidify the power of The Swamp (or whatever you want to call this thing). Year after year, issue after issue, until eventually you get to point where the “leaders” feel confident in telling the media what they should be saying:
I’ll admit, I was quite surprised to see CNN seemingly calling out the Biden administration with this headline. I ALWAYS felt the proper media response to pressure from the White House should be immediately publicizing it and ripping it apart. “HERE’S WHAT THEY DON’T WANT US TALKING ABOUT!”
Then I actually read the article — and it’s clear CNN is doing exactly what Biden asked. The piece looks like it could have come from the White House…….along with just a dash of CNN defending their previous and ongoing “journalistic” attempts to censor “misinformation”.
This type of direction from the White House would be an unthinkable attack on the free press if it were Donald Trump signing the memos. But because the paperwork comes from Joe Biden, it’s the media’s job to wear their Generals jersey with pride, throw away any sort of journalistic principles, and solidify a spot on next year’s roster.
It’s enough to make me Scream.
As far as the actual impeachment inquiry goes, I won’t be surprised when the GOP Generals manage to wrench defeat from the jaws of victory once again. It’s kind of what they do.

Every depressing article needs a kitten. This one needs three:
I want to support Mr. McCarthy, because he is herding cats, so to speak, but I think it is time for him to throw in with the Freedom Caucus.
M. Sim and peeps! Off topic, but timely: Mark Levin is interviewing Thomas Sowell in...18 minutes!!
Edit: Sorry! 10pm PDT, not 9.
SC - a real three kitten effort. Like the 16K loss and perhaps 6 win Generals, these "Generals" aren't going to do a damn thing, unless told to do so. Jump! How high! The deck is rigged and the game is fixed.
