Democrats' Short-Sightedness Makes 2024 Trump's Election To Lose
Retracing some recent missteps of the DNC
(Note: I’ve written numerous times about the lack of election security in America, but for the purposes of this article, I assume the 2024 election will be ‘free and fair’. We can quibble with the probability of this in the comments.)
As November 2024 draws near, the election’s political picture is starting to come into focus. One might think that with the support of media, Hollywood, military contractors, Big Pharma, Wall Street, and the Censorship Industrial Complex, Democrats should be well on their way to cruising to another victory. And they likely would be, if not for one big stumbling block: The actions of Democrats themselves.
The troubles of Biden-era Democrats actually started on January 6th, 2021 — the most dangerous day in the history of the entire world. This, of course, is the date of the ‘deadly insurrection’ at the Capitol that has since raised questions about who actually knew what and when they knew it. Since 1/6, curious and truth-seeking people such as myself have been demanding government release all the video footage and unredacted emails about that day — and officials’ refusal to do so raises EVEN MORE questions. (If you’re going to tell me this was the worst attack on American democracy in history, you’re gonna have to prove it.)
In addition to questionable and opaque security decisions on January 6th, the day’s events were also the excuse for removing former President Trump from Twitter and Facebook — ostensibly because of his support of the riot, though Trump’s posts from 1/6 undermine that accusation:
Now, of course, we know that government agents were deeply involved with (and demanding) censorship of these two giant social media companies, as well as Google/YouTube and traditional media companies. The odds that government agents WEREN’T behind the decision to get Trump banned are almost nil. After all, during Trump’s term, he often routed around the media, preferring to speak directly to the people via Twitter.
Thus, the short-term decision was made to remove him from social media in an attempt to silence him.
In response, Trump routed around the captured companies, creating his own.
And although Trump remained technically banned from Twitter and Facebook, accounts simply reposted Trump’s Truth Social content on these sites, blunting the impact of the bans.
This effort to remove Trump from social media would come back to bite Democrats even further, but more about that later.
Once Joe Biden was sworn in as President, Democrats once again looked to score short-term wins with the January 6th Committee. While this move was a hit to the already-convinced, the Committee’s obvious bias and refusal to even talk to Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund raised numerous red flags for those in the middle. (The hired TV executive producer and fake audio overlaid onto 1/6 events further destroyed the credibility of the January 6th Committee — at least to the sane.)
Ultimately, Pelosi’s two hand-picked Republicans Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney were out of office by the end of the 2022 midterms. (Kinzinger now works for CNN, while Cheney heads an anti-Trump political PAC.) Any Democratic short-term gains were counteracted by the loss of “Democrat-friendly Republicans” who were happy to badmouth Donald Trump to anybody who would listen. (You’ll noticed they haven’t stopped, they just have a smaller audience these days.)
Once Trump officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 election, Democrats advanced a new strategy to effectively keep him out of the race: Lawfare. Suddenly, indictments were raining from the sky, attempting to tie up Trump in court and drain his campaign funds.
Yet with every obviously political (or at the very least, politically timed) case, support for Trump has grown. Democrats’ short-term giddiness over ‘the walls closing in’ has given way to the realization that these cases were likely a long-term mistake.
Even Trump’s “record” bond of $464 million (now reduced to $175 million) was only a temporary hurdle, because……….
Well, well…….if it isn’t the consequences of their very own actions……
But Democrats shooting themselves in the foot goes far beyond Donald Trump himself. Immediately upon taking office, Joe Biden reversed nearly all of Trump’s executive orders, including those involving America’s southern border. This led to a predictable rise in illegal immigration — and years of silence about the issue from Democrats.
However, now that the 2024 election looms and mayors in big blue sanctuary cities are begging for federal help, Democrats are attempting to blame the problem on Donald Trump.
(Long-time readers know the bill in question would do little to secure the border and instead facilitate even more illegal entry into America. You have to wonder what the long-term Democratic strategy would be if this bill passes, but they are — once again — only concerned with short-term gains.)
So after telling voters FOR YEARS that Donald Trump is a racist POS for wanting a secure border, Democrats are complaining that the non-secure border is Trump’s fault. (These misdirection efforts are constantly stymied by Democrats continuing to insist that immigration is a good thing, while conflating the legal and illegal variety.)
From what I’ve seen, this tactic is falling flat with everybody but the ‘usual’ suspects (media and other paid influencers). It turns out the public has an attention span longer than a single media cycle, and all the hysterical shrieking of all the Joe Scarboroughs in the world won’t change that.
Despite these self-inflicted wounds, Biden and Trump remained basically locked in the polls during the early stages of 2023. It was then the Democrats made an error which may prove fatal: shunning Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Democrats — the self-declared defenders of democracy, responded with conviction:
“There will be no debate stage for Bobby Kennedy, Marianne Williamson, or anyone else to stand on.”
“So we’re gonna have another Bobby Kennedy and and empty chair in a debate?”
“There will be no debating. The DNC administers the debates, and they’re not going to set up a primary process for someone to challenge the head of the Democratic Party.”
And, true to their word, the DNC did NOT set up any sort of real primary process that allowed someone to challenge Joe Biden — they didn’t even want the APPEARANCE of a primary race. Biden is our nominee, and that’s that. (Until it suddenly isn’t.)
Left with little other choice, in October, Kennedy left the Democratic party and launched an independent campaign for president. And now with his recent pick of Nicole Shanahan as his running mate, Kennedy seems almost assured of being on the ballot in all 50 states. His VP pick also ensures Kennedy gains popularity in one of the only demographics that previously consistently favored Joe Biden: young people.
So now instead of allowing RFK his near-hopeless run in the Democratic primary (the rules of which may be altered at any time, remember) and having him drop out afterward, Biden must face both Trump and Kennedy in November.
Oops.
If Democrats keep sacrificing long-term wins for short-term gains, the Republicans are going to have a hard time reprising their role as the Washington Generals of the uniparty — they may actually stumble into a win come November. I mean….how do you throw a game to the Bad News Bears? (I know it starts with Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham…….)
Bonnie has figured out that if she preemptively stakes out a spot near the pillow, she can cuddle with G at night.
Democrats keep acting like they never need to win an election again. What do they know?...
Lots of good points. One correction: someone entering the country illegally is not an immigrant. An immigrant is some one who immigrates, which means (by definition) according to immigration process defined by law (congress). Truth is that Trump was "pro-immigrant": Trump's policy was simply to follow the law as enacted. Further, early in his administration, Trump had his FP enter a bill in the senate that would have reformed immigration law, which (ironically?) included in law many of the provisions "pro-immigration" advocates claimed to desire, including features of the empty promise known as DACA (which was what legal experts refer to as political bovine excrement). That bill was blocked by both parties. Neither of which actually wants to promote immigration, but rather, prefer to preserve an illegal population.
The Obama administration was very anti-immigrant. They blocked legislation that would expand (legal) immigration and instead produced empty promises known as "DACA" (total fraud). The made it more difficult to immigrate and more attractive to enter illegally, growing the illegal (and exploitable) population. If we use language correctly, the reality may become more clear.
