Good morning everybody! I don’t have a lot of time this weekend, but I wanted to touch on a couple stories really quick. But first, I’ve had multiple people write to tell me that they didn’t receive an email for This Is Not A Drill — Part 2, so there’s a link. (Sorry it was so big!) I’m also working on a plan of action article for the recent CDC child vaccine schedule shenanigans, so stay tuned for that later this weekend.
We often think of tyranny in huge, overarching terms (such as the subjugation of a nation), but tyrants are scattered around the countryside like so many discarded surgical masks. This video must be seen to be believed:
These are the actions of somebody who believes that she is above the law (and should know better). She writes her own warrant and then immediately executes it (including search!), all while telling the homeowner that he will be arrested if he doesn’t go along with the clearly illegal order. Bonus tyranny points for sitting in the dude’s chair.
But don’t count the big boys out of the tyranny game. Emmy-award winner James Gordon Meek has been missing since April, when the FBI raided his apartment in Washington DC. The agency claims that Meek was in possession of classified information. (Unless he stole it, something that is quite obviously legal within Meek’s journalism work) Meek was working on a book detailing the shameful method of America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Hopefully Meek is somewhere in the middle of nowhere, safe and sound, hammering away on an old-fashioned typewriter to finish his book far away from overstepping federal agents. (That’s certainly what I would have done!) We sometimes joke about the FBI showing up and taking us away, but perhaps that reality is closer than we want to admit. This administration (along with the others of my lifetime) would have no qualms about calling this guy a terrorist and USA PATRIOT Acting him away forever (or at least until the political embarrassment is no longer relevant).
This story has echoes of last November’s First Amendment debacle, when FBI agents stormed the home of a Project Veritas reporter. (video at link!) In that case, it was to recover files surrounding the diary of Ashley Biden, which the news agency had already handed over. (PV did not publish the diary after they were unable to verify it)
Yet have you heard any stories about how Biden is an authoritarian madman, using the FBI to go after journalists? Of course not, the REAL threat to the media is Trump saying “You’re fake news.” (Perhaps the most true thing said by anybody, ever.)
To wrap this up, we’ve got to give credit to the ‘fact-checkers’. Normally I’m constantly deriding them for their clear bias and idiotic conclusions, and for good reason. But yesterday they got one right. Let’s check it out.
I have the video, so let’s check it out!
Amazing! The fact checkers are correct! The 20-second video was altered and this was part of a longer speech! Score a win for the fact checkers! This brings them up to batting .003, just over the Fauci line.
But now let’s watch that video again and let’s think about the last three years. Has America (and Obama’s party in particular) been all about freedom and living your life how you choose? Or have the ‘leaders’ been telling us that “ordinary men and women are too small-minded to govern their own affairs”? Because I certainly remember a whole lot of stuff like “progress can only come when individuals surrender their rights to an all-powerful sovereign.”
Obama would be called a right-wing extremist these days, and be canceled for his ‘dangerous fixation’ on individual rights and freedom. Just another example of how much ground we’ve lost over the last few years.
Depressing stuff. Here’s an adorable picture of Larry.
I’m in the middle of dropping my latest, and here you come, kicking in my door like an FBI agent. So now I have to stop everything I’m doing and read your Substack, because you’re awesome.
And thank you for the missing journalist. I’m putting that to work now.
"...overstepping federal agents." Goosestepping, I'd call it.
We have way too many people like that here, both in official and officious capacity as well as "well-meaning conscientous citizens" - read curtain twitchers. You, meaning USAmericans (is that an offensive term nowadays? I can no longer tell) desperately need to curb these tendencies and get a movement going, all other issues aside, to ensure that honouring the righst and principles that are the foundation of the law are held in higher esteem than legalistic rules-lawyering and literalism.
Our system has zero separation between judiciary, legislative and executive - it's all one and it's all top-down. Trust me when I say that you do not want that, because once in place no politician and no business leader will ever want to change it.
