Obama's Army has grown. You cannot find the earlier videos of the young black boys claiming membership to Obama's Army. Those have been removed from the internets.

We have way too many people like that here, both in official and officious capacity as well as "well-meaning conscientous citizens" - read curtain twitchers. You, meaning USAmericans (is that an offensive term nowadays? I can no longer tell) desperately need to curb these tendencies and get a movement going, all other issues aside, to ensure that honouring the righst and principles that are the foundation of the law are held in higher esteem than legalistic rules-lawyering and literalism.

Our system has zero separation between judiciary, legislative and executive - it's all one and it's all top-down. Trust me when I say that you do not want that, because once in place no politician and no business leader will ever want to change it.

Yes. The courts that were supposed to be holding back the government realized they were actually on the same side.

I see your courts and raise you our "constitutional committee", the alleged safeguard against governement violating its own laws, but 1) is made up out of politicians appointed by that same governement from the same party that forms governement, and 2) only has the power to summon a politician to a hearing, and at its harshest issue a formal reprimand - like a note from the teacher that you don't have to get signed and bring back.

Oh, and the summons may be freely ignore without consequence.

(Yeah, I know it's not a competition and I know there are plenty worse places, but if I'd stop using bitter humour as a coping mechanism I'd lose the plot completely.)

regarding this story, 4 years a go i would have felt sorry for the injured officers, but after covid and realising that police will just go full totalitarian on us at the word of corrupt politicians, fuck em all!

It sure looks like the police in this scenario were shot by the police. (after the police shot the dog initially all hell broke loose at the sound of gunfire and officers started shooting blindly into the building) The Houston PD refuses to release ballistics relating to the officer injuries.

Yes, exactly. And he would have to be John Wick to wake up from a nap and take down that many officers in that amount of time with that many shots.

Oddly, I have so many dear friends with cats....I guess I’m a people pleaser, cats... it seems impossible. They ignore you most of the time and then boss you around....too much like my ex husband!!! MEOW!! 😂😂😂

There's a 2011 book, Pox, by Michael Willrich, about smallpox and vaccine battles in the U.S. circa 1900. It has lots and lots of echoes of the covid vaccine battles. There were smallpox vaccination travel and work and school requirements, anti-compulsory vaccination leagues.

It's a recommended read.

Well I'm not gonna type it all out again, but basically laws are how government protects our rights (the proper function of government)

"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed"

When you harm me or steal my stuff, government uses laws to punish that aggression. (Otherwise I would do it myself, and nobody wants that!)

Your essay today is very alarming and I am currently thinking about panicking. The thought of a missing reporter, even if it is of his own doing, scares me.

I still can remember when I wasn’t tentative about going about my daily life…….It was when Trump was president…..He was and still is a blowhard but, a great president. He would never have put up with infringing on anyone’s freedom. But, that was then.
