I think you should get the job as Newsome's political slogan writer.

The Fiona video is irresistible.

The AI video right after it is 100% accurate.

TiredCitzen sent a pic of the Fiona stuffy -- it's amazing!

I used to umpire softball for the local league. A lot of people don't know that the ump is considered part of the playing field, so the ball bouncing off the ump is never interference.

SimulationCommander's avatar

Yep, just a sign you're running REALLY bad.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I once lined the ball off our third-base runner and over the side fence. The ball was DEFINATELY going foul and it was actually going to be a strikeout because I already had 2 strikes. But since the runner was on the bag, he was considered in fair territory. The ball went out of play and turned into a ground-rule double!

What a sad difference our country is now. I was watching Ronald Reagan and his magnificent funeral this weekend remembering MY President growing up and how patriotic we all were. The looney socialists were there, but their focus was whether Reagan would start WW3 and shoot off nuclear missiles. (If you haven't seen the Reagan movie with Dennis Quaid and Penelope Ann Miller (who both deserved Oscars for their performances) you really should).

The Statue of Liberty was restored and revealed again in 1986. This is ABC's montage of that patriotic weekend. Look at everyone's faces.

I've always said I'm glad President Reagan didn't live to see what his "shining city on a hill" has become. You never heard him talk about himself, how great he was and cussing about lawmakers at a National Prayer breakfast or be so narcissistic that everything is falsely viewed as the best ever. He wasn't a perfect man, but I'll take his love of country any day of the week. Besides 9/11, the event that best shows when this country died was in 2004 when Ronald Reagan died. The city he knew doesn't exist anymore.

We were more united as a country and a people.

Newsome, he is so disgusting. What a freak.

I love the hippo, wow, what a job.

The chickies are cute, are you gonna keep them or raise them?

My kitty Princess, the one tha climbs the cabinets, always sniffs her yummy food and then tries to cover it up - bowl is on the carpet - just like covering her poops in her litter box.

Later she will eat it but she is silly.

So glad the Olympics is over. It was pretty fun to watch on tv, but too many drug commercials and commentary as usual.

I miss having two kitties. Princess needs a kitten.

OH the two dogs in the beginning, oooh man, what a nice surprise for daddy when he comes home.... I wonder how long it will take for them to see it...

The rubes goldberg for the squirrels is pretty cool.

Happy Tuesday.

SimulationCommander's avatar

The plan is to care for the chicks and just get eggs from them.

When G is done with the food I set out for him, he lets me know to take away the plate/bowl by doing the same "covering my poop" motion that you talk about -- I thought he was just weird!

suannee's avatar

I think the cats are on to the fact that the food is pretty much crap. Cats die a lot younger than they used to. I believe it has to do with their junk diets, as well as lousy vets (in our area). What else is new? We also have lousy doctors.

Thanks for posting about Fiona. Hard to believe she is 9 years old already. The other wonderful thing about her birth was it came after the furor over the Zoo's very difficult decision to shoot Harambe the Gorilla when a little UNATTENDED boy got down into the gorilla enclosure and Harambe had gone down into the moat to see what it was and brought him up the other side. The story went global and the Zoo received death threats for their decision. But imagine what would have happened if they hesitated and he had killed the little boy in a split second. Fiona's birth and survival story helped to bring happiness and joy to them.

SimulationCommander's avatar

Save the boy but shoot the parents.

So that dog running POV vid. Where is the camera?! 😳

I think there's some sort of editing trick that removes the selfie stick.

Congrats on the gold! Golds? Whatever. Well done them teams!

Everything's been downhill here. As in downhill skiing. Back is stiff as a plank. Thighs are wooden and thanks to wearing them heavy ski-boots for 7+ hours a day on the slopes, I'm literally slouching about the home.

At least it makes it easier to assume the knuckle-dragger position...

Sälen, one of the biggest and largest ski-resorts in Europe, offers more than 100 slopes. From Green (child/newbie friendly) to Black ("at your own risk"-level, plus risk of avalance). Slopes are open from 0900 to 1800, and you get access to all of them for a measly 750:- (about $75) as an adult.

Also, being the only guy on the slopes /not/ wearing a helmet, and using skis from the 1980s, is a personal "enjoyance". That, plus doing The Wall - first half of that slope is so steep it feels almost vertical. You easily hit highway-speed before you have to start breaking.

And the back-yard is full of deer on a daily basis, so the dogs be going nutso-bonkers.

LOVE the animal vids. They just don’t care about Trump, Ukraine or war with the cartels that have better guns than the Federales. The baby Hippo has the right attitude. try Just to Be Happy!! The rest is going to take care of itself.

I love your baby chicks! I'm getting my first EVER chickies soon! Because I will need them to grow up before I can put them outside in the coop, they will need to be inside my house for a little while. I LOVE your cat-proof Fort Knox! Did yall build that easily? I'm going to need one like that or similar. Especially the heavy wire protection! I'm only getting 4 of them though. Any baby chick advice yall can give me is sincerely and greatly appreciated! We are between the Mississippi state line and Lake Pontchartrain in southest Louisiana region, if that helps with any advice. Thank yall! Love, hugs, and PERSEVERE always yall!

Rosemary B's avatar

I do not know anything about chickens or raising them. It sounds fun.

I do know my adorable niece in Dover NH has a "chicken/hen house" a big set up, but I learned from her, you must really build that thing like a fortress because wild animals will learn about this on your property very soon and they tell their animal friends. Then they will all work together to break in. So, build your henhouse like Fort Knox... and she says the structure needs care and diligent attention.

All of it sounds like a super blast!

Kelly G. & The Wild Cats's avatar

Thank you Rosemary. I have a coop that is built with cypress wood and is secure. Plus heavy wire all around and underneath it so nothing can dig under it to get into the coop from outside. So excited to enter this new chapter of chick life!

SimulationCommander's avatar

That 'coop' is a big plastic tub with a hole cut out in the lid for the "grate," but they'll have to move into a doggie kennel before they're finally ready to live out in the "real" coop. I'm a chicken novice, too, but I'll pass along anything I learn!

Kelly G. & The Wild Cats's avatar

Thank you! Appreciate any suggestions and tips you can send my way!

JudyC's avatar

Kelly, you might try logging on to Backyard Chickens site. There are hundreds of members and you’ll find great suggestions on all aspects of raising flocks. There’s also a ton of books available. One that I found helpful when I was new at this is called “Chick Days, Raising Chickens from Hatchlings to Laying Hens” by Jenna Woginrich. I liked it because it described their progress week by week. Chickens are pretty easy to raise with some good basic knowledge so enjoy! (One caveat: look up “Chicken Math”….my fellow chicken owners will all say, if you know you know)

Kelly G. & The Wild Cats's avatar

I will also check out the backyard chickens website too!!! Thank you!

Kelly G. & The Wild Cats's avatar

Thank you Judy! I will definitely get that book! Chicken math? Lol. Sounds fun! Thanks again so much!

JudyC's avatar

Always thrilled to see a new chicken owner. Bit of advice, when you build a coop, build it much bigger than you think you need. That’s where the Chicken Math comes in!

Kelly G. & The Wild Cats's avatar

Funny story, I've already got the coop since 2023. Lol. It's big enough for 6 but I'm starting with 4.

SimulationCommander's avatar

So far the only thing I've learned is to constantly make sure the water is clean because they love to throw the sawdust in there when they're digging. .

Kelly G. & The Wild Cats's avatar

Thank you! Absolutely will do! I'm already a bit obsessive about clean water for my kitties and my puppy dog. Thank you again so much!

With Mexico ablaze and Canada running post mortems at ice hockey HQ, this would appear to be an excellent week to be an American.

SimulationCommander's avatar

I've seen a whole lot of "but we were the better team" today, it's insane. Especially "we were better, you just had a better goalie."

Even us idiot Americans know you need a good goalie.

Trying to cope with a reality that doesn’t care about such fulminations and only what’s on the scoreboard.

And I'm sure you know that about every single zoo, huh? Fiona would have died without their care.
