Great news, citizens! Tony Fauci has granted you permission to assess your own covid risk and act accordingly! After months and months of lockdowns, years of masks and other stupid restrictions, as well as the wholesale ostracization of anybody who went against the narrative, Fauci spent a day or two studying poll numbers and is now officially saying what we all knew two years ago:
Of course, this was the kind of talk that got people thrown off social media and disowned from family and friends. Stating ‘virus gonna virus’ was heresy in this new world of The Science. Even though the entire point of ‘15 days to flatten the curve’ was to SPREAD OUT infections, not ELIMINATE infections, the ‘leaders’ spent nearly two years chasing that zero-covid fantasy. Now the High Priest of the Covid Cult is admitting we were right the whole time.
Of course, Fauci being Fauci, he can’t be ALL correct:
Fauci said that while “there is concern that we are seeing an uptick in cases,” it’s “not unexpected that you’re going to see an uptick when you pull back on the mitigation methods.
“It was said that if we do start seeing an uptick, particularly of hospitalizations, we may need to revert back to being more careful and having more utilizations of masks indoors,” Fauci said. “But right now, we’re watching it very, very carefully, and there is concern that it’s going up, but hopefully we’re not going to see increased severity.”
Even after all this time, Fauci states that we have control over how the virus spreads. OF COURSE when you “pull back on the mitigation methods” you see a rise in cases. OF COURSE YOU DO. Right? This is a GREAT time to (once again) bring up what this idiot was saying about Texas last year around this time:
It’s been some five weeks since Texas lifted its mask mandate, and there has yet to be an explosion of COVID-19 cases.
It’s something Dr. Anthony Fauci can’t quite explain.
“I’m not really quite sure,” he told MSNBC this week. “It could be they’re doing things outdoors.”
“Often you have to wait a few weeks before you see the effect of what you’re doing right now,” he said.
“I hope they continue to tick down. If they do, that would be great but there’s always the concern when you pull back on methods — particularly on things like indoor dining and bars that are crowded — you could see a delay and then all of a sudden tick right back up,” he said.
What actually happened in the weeks following early March 2021, when Texas opened?
Cases bottomed out until the summer sunbelt spike — exactly as predicted by the ‘seasonality theorists’. The rules had nothing at all to do with the seasonal drop in covid. The same exact thing is true this year. Nearly everybody is completely done with covid restrictions and masks, yet only 2% of hospital beds are taken by covid-positive patients.
For two years we were told that the virus was waiting to spring on us the moment we let our guard down, and that if we failed to wear the correct talisman or do the correct sun dance, we were horrible people who were going to kill grandmothers across the country.
Stupid ideas like ‘hammer and dance’ assumed rules drove the curve, but it was ALWAYS seasonality. In 2020, the ‘leaders’ literally took credit for spring and proclaimed that it was their quick-thinking and scientifically based lockdowns that ‘defeated the virus’. In 2021, the pharmaceutical companies took credit for spring and proclaimed it was their vaccinations that saved the day.
Yet in both years we saw a summer sunbelt spike (in 2020 blamed on anti-maskers, in 2021 blamed on anti-vaxxers), followed by a late autumn/winter wave that crashed over the entire country regardless of rules or vaccination rates.
Knowing that, what do we expect this fall? For an unprecedented second time this week, Fauci knows!
Notice how he slipped in that admission of acquired immunity? Are there any exceptions in any covid mandates for people with such immunity? Has any government official actually acknowledged it in any meaningful way since this whole thing started? (Of course not. If they did, many people would correctly decide to contract the virus instead of getting the vaccine that doesn’t stop you from contracting the virus.)
Of course, Fauci isn’t exactly correct. The next wave will be in the sunbelt during the summer. Again. Maybe Fauci can’t say that because it will ruin whatever derogatory slur they’re going to hurl at the “redneck” South this year when cases rise there but not in the “sophisticated” northeast. In summer 2020, remember how Cuomo bragged about beating the virus and bagged on Florida all summer? Remember how he had to eat shit that winter?
And that gives me an excuse to close this out with the meme of the pandemic:
Stay sane out there.
I'm wondering if the sunbelt spike will look different this year. Seems like most of us (at least where I live) who are unvaccinated have already contracted Covid. They can blame the low vaccination rates as much as they want, but look at Portugal or the U.K. vs. India. Unfortunately none of our U.S. states has a low enough vax rate (I suspect) to provide a true control group. With that said if you look at the current dashboard of case rates by state a pattern shows up and I am curious to see whether it's merely seasonality leading to the highest vaccinated states having the most cases. Time will tell.
And yet did i see Philadelphia reinstating indoor mask mandates? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
