RFK Jr. Braves Libertarian Waters
A recap of his speech at the Libertarian National Convention
RFK spoke to the Libertarian National Convention today, choosing to forgo his normal stump speech to instead talk about the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Kennedy recounted the story of how the Bill of Rights came about — the founders knew that government would try to grow whenever possible. So although the Constitution was written to limit the power of government, the Bill of Rights was created to specifically lay out what government CANNOT do.
Sadly, Kennedy noted, the Bill of Rights is just a document. (A paper shield, Cersei Lannister would say.) Government ALWAYS finds an excuse that “this time is different” and Constitutional rights must be restricted — from the drug war to covid. RFK Jr. noted there’s no exception for pandemics, but a government that can rescind those rights turns them in privileges.
Kennedy stated that the paper isn’t sufficient to safeguard our rights — the citizens must stand up for them. He noted the Constitution is also an inspirational document, so we should elect leaders who are guided by it. Kennedy said Biden and Trump do not fall into this category — as an example, he recounted how Trump got rolled by the ‘experts’ during covid and government started censoring the speech that dissented from the official narrative. Kennedy blamed the media for being an arm of government propaganda and noted that if the First Amendment can be rescinded, the others would soon follow.
Kennedy sounded a little like the bad cat when he noted that throughout history, the censors have always been the bad guys. He stated the Constitution was created for hard times and divisive speech, not just to talk about the easy topics.
Kennedy then pivoted to how censorship during the covid years led to the fall of other rights — suddenly we couldn’t gather in public, churches were closed, we couldn’t visit relatives in the hospital, and businesses were shuttered. (All based on shoddy ‘science’) Kennedy said President Trump didn’t stand up for the Constitution when it really mattered — the only Amendment that was untouched was the Second Amendment. (Not exactly true, California shut down gun stores until they were forced to open them back up.)
Kennedy brought up Julian Assange (to applause from the crowd) and noted that he should be celebrated as a hero for blowing the whistle on government corruption — and the same is true of Edward Snowden. Kennedy declared that as President, he would drop all charges against Assange and pardon Snowden.
Once the applause died down, Kennedy moved to President Biden’s violations of the Constitution — with a heavy focus on the covid mandates. Perhaps even worse than the mandates, Kennedy noted that Biden was colluding with the FBI and social media sites to allow government to censor the legal (and often true) speech of Americans.
Kennedy then promised he would protect the Constitutional rights of Americans up and down the board, including the Ninth and Tenth Amendments. (Which basically says everything not covered in the Constitution is left to the people and/or the states.) Kennedy noted that we best advance as a people when individual freedom thrives in the populace.
Kennedy noted that “private companies” can’t censor speech at government’s behest. (Sound familiar?) He proclaimed that we should respond to censorship with outrage, otherwise we’re doomed to tyranny. RFK Jr. noted the response of the people during covid was disheartening (with exceptions for people in the room, obviously).
Kennedy spent some time listing various mind control operations (such as MK-Ultra). He spent a minute explaining the Milgram experiment and how most people acquiesced to authority, even when they thought they could cause the death of others. Kennedy noted that the 33% of people who walked out of that experiment were likely Libertarians who rejected the entire premise of the experiment.
Kennedy noted that now that we’re out of the covid madness, millions of people are waking up to the fact that they were lied to. He recounted the CDC’s new advice for the 9th covid booster, and how the public is rejecting that suggestion.
RFK Jr. then made the statement that censorship is a form of extreme disrespect, and that as president he will respect the fact that people are complete, sovereign beings. He extended this disrespect theme to unwanted medical procedures, the weaponization of the justice system, propagandization of the American people, and gun control laws. He promised to fire any government worker who lies to Americans.
Kennedy then shifted to the forever wars, promising to bring the troops home and stop bankrupting the country blowing things up across the world. He stated that while other nations may fear us today, they don’t respect us because of our foreign policy. He noted this has bled into American life — citing a poll stating only 18% of young people are proud to be American.
Kennedy wrapped up the speech noting that we can regain this self-esteem and respect by respecting the Constitution. He stated that the sacrifices we must make to preserve the Constitution are trivial compared to the sacrifices of the founders, and although we may not agree on all the issues, we agree that we must protect the Constitution — and that starts with electing leaders who promise to do so.

Note: I love you guys. "THIS MF ISN'T A LIBERTARIAN" is the ultimate libertarian response. (It's also true.)
SC - " the CDC’s new advice for the 9th covid booster" There has to be a silver cloud? If anyone followed any of their advice, especially multiple jabs, perhaps that's just one less idiot.
