When Seconds Count, Police Stand Around Outside
No time today, but I do want to post this:
Reason is reporting in multiple stories, based on videos taken at the scene, that the police waited somewhere between 40 to 60 minutes to actually enter Robb Elementary, scene of the recent horrific school shooting.
Video and witness accounts from outside Uvalde's Robb Elementary School suggest local police officers not only failed to try and stop the shooter for an unconscionably long time but also actively prevented parents from trying to save their kids.
The shooter—Salvador Ramos—was inside the school for 40 minutes or more while police stood around outside, the Associated Press reports. "Frustrated onlookers urged police officers to charge into the Texas elementary school," but the officers reportedly waited outside until a SWAT team was ready.

In fact, it took the police so long to get the situation under control that one mother who was 40 miles away when she learned about the shooting had enough time to drive to the school. According to The Wall Street Journal, police arrested and handcuffed her to prevent her from trying to save her children.

One thing is for certain: increasing security presence at schools won’t make a lick of difference if those tasked to actually provide the security refuse to do so.
No wonder people get suspicious about these things. At some point, where do you start doubting it's really incompetence.
On a less conspiracy driven note, these videos are the reason anyone talking gun control, even at this moment, isn't going to get very far. "The police will protect you" doesn't inspire much confidence when the police are cowards themselves. They waited for the SWAT team because they didn't want to get shot. Such brave men and women.
The anguished cries of the parents is heart wrenching. I can't believe how many armed officers are standing around doing nothing but turning a deaf ear to the parents' frantic pleas. We are living in the Twilight Zone. It would be hard to believe if you didn't see it with your own eyes. I have a feeling these law enforcement officers are going to be tormented over this for the rest of their lives.
