Yep, it definitely starts right away. See the Sedition Act of 1798, which criminalized making 'false statements' critical of the federal government -- only ten years after the FedGov came into existence via the Constitution.

No, it's definitely not my first time. :)

The terrible tune of tyrants is timeless. I guess if it ain't broke.......

Interesting note:

In 1987, the Supreme Court struck down a Houston ordinance prohibiting verbal abuse of police officers, declaring that "the freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state."

Makes sense they are busy purging the military of unjabbed/non compliant. Whatever contingency plan they have for misinfo terrorists will require a military that takes orders without asking questions.

SimulationCommander's avatar

Nurses, too. Sort of makes you wonder what the 'leaders' will ask the compliant to do next.

Yeah, and where was the terrorist-threat-misinformation warning during the entirety of the Democrat Party's Russia Russia Russia scam?

Maybe it can be enforced retrospectively. After all, the evidence is all there on camera.

They tried labeling people as "conspiracy theorists", but those danged conspiracies kept having a way of coming out as true in the end, so now they are going to try "domestic terrorists", "violent extremists", and "threat actors" and then see how that goes.

We are pushing back, and the Borg can't tolerate pushback. The Ministries of Truth and Peacekeeping must crush dissent.

So, knowing we're all on a list somewhere, have we counted our costs?

I'm writing a similar piece for exactly the same issue in the UK. Weird how it all happens in lockstep!

What's the difference between "violent extremists" and "threat actors"? Maybe Alec Baldwin is an example of the latter?

Anyway, their "Media Literacy & Critical Thinking Online" info sheet is not bad. I especially like step six. https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/digital_media_literacy_0.pdf

1. Consider the source: SimulationCommander is well-known to the cognoscenti.

2. Triple check the source: No fake logos here

3. Identify the author: Author clearly listed

4. Inspect the URL: Looks good

5. Examine spelling and punctuation: A+

6. Seek alternative viewpoints: That's why I'm here

7. Think before you share: I always do

SimulationCommander's avatar

Trust me, it's the editing that is A+, not the spelling and punctuation ;)

As someone in the security sphere, I don't recall any kind of similar notice when BLM and Antifa were reigning with blood and horror on the cities in the US. Mostly logistical bulletins.

Soros won’t put up with his pet projects being labeled terrorists!

John Raymond's avatar

Wow, they've labeled 55 per cent of US adult population terrorists.
