It’s now been a hectic few days since the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, and America is stuck collectively wondering if our government actually ordered the hit or if they were simply too incompetent to stop it — because the more we learn, the less sense the official story makes.
Indeed, here is Crooks wandering around an hour before the shooting, looking at rooftops:
Even worse, he was spotted ON THE ROOF 20 minutes before Trump was shot:
This information obviously raises all sorts of questions, but the biggest one still remains unanswered — knowing what the SS knew at the time, why was Trump still on that stage?
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle sat down with ABC News to avoid answering the difficult questions raised by this tragedy:
Her answer about securing the building from which Crooks shot deserves a replay:
"We wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.”
The actual countersnipers:
Butler town manager (that’s a thing?) Tom Knights describes the pre-shooting encounter with Crooks on the rooftop:
In the movies, it takes an entire team of villains months to concoct an elaborate plot to get a brief shot at the president — in real life, some random 20-year old can hatch up a plan over a week and “luck” his way into a world-altering shot? I have my doubts — and I’m not the only one.
Luckily for the country, Trump survived the attack and will be speaking (in just a couple hours!) at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. MSNBC notes that some famous faces will be missing from the convention:
Also not attending the convention is former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton. After Trump announced the pick of JD Vance as his running mate, Bolton appeared on MSNBC to say exactly what you would expect John Bolton to say:
“The Republican party is at risk of the virus of isolationism. We repeat this mistake from generation to generation and I hope we’re not about to repeat it again.”
John Bolton was born in 1948. What the fuck ‘isolationism’ has he seen in his lifetime? And for that matter, what glorious American military victories has he seen in his lifetime? It like he’s a walking version of the History channel — all juiced up on WWII footage — and desperate to get his own version of ‘the glory days’. This explains why he’s never met a war he didn’t like.
As far as I’m concerned, the ‘new’ Republican party should be happy to be rid of Bolton and the the rest of the neocons.
While Trump literally dodged an assassin’s bullet, the slow-motion political assassination of Joe Biden is gaining momentum by the hour — with the vultures moving in like Roman Senators on the Ides of March:
That last article especially cracked me up, because I’m old enough to remember when Adam Schiff used his time to viciously attack the verbiage of the Hur Report instead of getting to the bottom of Biden’s actual condition:
Indeed, it’s only been scant months since the Hur Report had Joe Scarborough CUSSIN’ mad:
“This version of Biden - intellectually, analytically - is the best Biden ever.”
But how quickly things change! Biden’s disastrous debate performance followed by lukewarm (at best) interviews have done nothing to reassure voters that Biden is up to the job:
And it turns out that “DEMOCRACY!” actually comes secondary to bad polls. Watch John Heilemann explain the situation to a Joe Scarborough that the March version of Joe Scarborough would have told to fuck off:
“If you take that message [the money drying up] and combine it with the orchestrated message, really collectively, of the leadership of the Congressional Democrats — that is as dark a day as there has been for Joe Biden since the debate, where it is now sort of clear that collectively the leadership of the party in the Senate and House and the donors who support Joe Biden and the Democratic party are basically sending a very clear message to Joe Biden about what they think is in the best interest of the party.”
After noting that his recent bout with Covid will give Biden time to reflect on the situation, Heilemann concludes the piece:
“The writing is on the wall. Whether he decides to read it or not….ultimately is up to him — but the message is very clearly on the wall for him now from the party.”
And so Joe, having his marching orders, joins in the long line of Senators trying to get a stab in on the politically lifeless body of Joe Biden:
But once again, Joe can’t be honest: The anger that Democratic voters are voicing isn’t directed toward Biden’s inner circle — it’s directed at the Democratic party’s inner circle (including the media) that actively covered for Joe Biden the last four years. These people whose literal job it was to cover the President — hundreds of them! — were silent until the truth could no longer be avoided.
This is a huge problem because the party very publicly stonewalled its way through the entire primary process — refusing to expose Biden to debates with RFK and others, during which his condition may have been revealed. Voters feel (rightly so) that they’ve been left out of the entire primary process — which makes it hard to rile them up about ‘the end of Democracy’.
And (IMO) this push to replace Biden is bound to backfire, as questions start coming in fast and furious about exactly who knew what and when they knew it. (Wouldn’t that be a fun afternoon of FOIA reading?) I don’t see how Harris escapes this scrutiny — but then again, maybe that’s the perfect way to get her out of the picture……….

We're almost 100 comments in and nobody has provided a list of the 'good' wars since Bolton was born in '48. Iraq I? Or was I just at the right age to believe all the hype there, too?
Excellent analysis of our current scene. You make a sage point in your last paragraph: Kamala Harris has known for years about Biden's dementia ... and did nothing to protect the country from this brain-addled "leader." Nobody should forget or gloss over this truth.
