Nikki Haley wins the District of Columbia?? All I need to know! This is approaching the theater of the absurd limits… excuse my language, but really…so fucking what?? I hate Republicans…. Not as badly as Democrats… but still, it’s like everything is a big fat game to them… so here we are, 72 and 78, until “ COVID” ( henceforward in quotes because you know why) very comfortably retired… and now, not so much. But our worries/ disappointments are insignificant …I do not know the $$ line between middle class and upper class, but I know for certain that the middle middle class and below are getting absolutely hammered. And that Americans in need of any form of financial assistance are and should be outraged what is being done to them. It is so upside down… and it’s being done primarily by the party that claims to champion them. And Nikki, nice try, but we don’t need anymore MIC supporting war mongers. Keep your Board job at BOEING and go away.

Here is the amazing thing about Trump. He somehow causes his enemies to self-destruct. I have no idea exactly how this phenomenon works but it happens reliably over and over again. To vote for Nikki Hailey is closing your eyes to reality stomping your feet on the ground and saying take me back to 2006 take me back to 2006 take me back to 2006 over and over and over.

They are the same people who still rationalize the invasion of Iraq, and make excuses for the withdrawal in Afghanistan.

Maybe to see the truth of who the Republican Party has been, our government has been is simply to unsettling, disorienting, too ‘rug pulled out from beneath me’ for millions of Americans.

The truth may set us free, but it was never said that it would be painless.

This is likely crazy. Projection for sure, but mostly just tip-toeing out on a branch a bit too far.

There is another forcing function from endless war that is, in some ways, almost therapeutic. War prioritizes itself, and you along with it. The absolute thrill of a sustained effort of near total attention. Flow. It is professional Nirvana. Counter-intuitively, many feel less stressed overseas. Your spinning plates of adult life are reduced to one, maybe two.

There may be an echo of this to some Americans. I could see this undoubtedly if one worked in the gov contracting/manufacturing companies.

There is a predictability to the 21st Century FOB life for Soldiers that is reminiscent of Bill Murray's experience in Groundhog Day, except we never learned. Of course it is predictable up until IT IS NOT in very dramatic fashion, but most of the days are just ending yesterday today.

Predictability is comfortable for everyone, it is generally a significant motive beneath much of our striving behavior. We all want our lives to be predictable.

A large part of the country has learned to find comfort in war. There is a great living for many. Like all the small businesses around stadiums, there are so many businesses surrounding our military.

With just a small injection of moral idealism, justified vengeance, and hubris we can actually become proud of our warring nation. It is the moral, right thing to do. Let's bring democracy to these savages.

It is a good, ordered, simplified life. It provides access to flow which very few people are fortunate enough to experience professionally- ever- and rarely in other aspects of life.

War becomes its own end.

If all Veterans were surveyed 90-180 days after returning from combat, my guess is nearly 90% would return immediately. War is also addictive.

"WAR! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing..." ah....I beg to differ Edwin Starr...

One important thing to remember that Haley forgot, DeSantis only suspended his campaign. Her humiliation will only skyrocket.

Yes, but the party can change its rules whenever they want and there's nothing anybody can do about it. If Trump gets thrown in jail the night before, they can re-write the rules to be the non-Trump candidate with the most pledged delegates at the convention.

Obviously this would piss off a lot of people, but pretty much everything the GOP does pisses off a lot of people.
