I believe the photo of the cat walking in front of a line of dogs is a cat which has specially been trained by the Russian police. She in turn is used to train police dogs, specifically, to test how they respond to distractions.

I'm serious.

It definitely looks like some sort of doggie training.

It is. Commonly used in training Russian police dogs.

We have a cat who used to climb into our bearded dragon tanks and curl up next to the seemingly unfazed beardies! So funny.

More people have illegally crossed the southern border in the last year than there are citizens in my state of New Mexico. My sympathy for NYC, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, etc, is absolutely nil.

But NYC is dealing with like 500 people a day! *snort*

Try living in Texas! You are seeing one tenth of the devastation being caused here. The plight of the unaccompanied (& suspiciously accompanied) children is horrific. Crime is sky rocketing, homelessness too, and it just goes on and on. Since this regime refuses to close the border, the only thing to do is ship these people out to other places (sanctuary cities, states, etc) until the public outcry from liberal areas is heard and then maybe they will do something about it. Believe me, the Biden regime could care less about red states or these people’s lives! They are just pawns.

I absolutely understand that it's worse in Texas (though of course as a New Mexican I *would* think that, wouldn't I? ;) ) I just like using New Mexico for that comparison because of how sparsely populated the state is.

Though another way to look at it is that it's nearly 1% of the population of the entire country.

I keep saying this about the children. When I was a kid, my parents took in 4 foster children who we later found out had all been abused in every way possible. All four were irretrievably screwed up and ruined for life. All of these kids that are coming into our country this way will be the same. It is a monumental crisis that nobody talks about.

And since they just disappear, with no oversight from our benevolent government, how many of these children are now sex slaves? If the government can’t keep up with illegal adults, what chance do these kids have of being safe and properly cared for. My God, the evil of this regime knows no bounds!

I think it was SimCom who said that a common theme with those of us who saw through the Covid scam were people that found out about government corruption at an early age. The foster kid thing was mine. Many things happened with them and my parents sued the State of Ohio over how they were lied to about those kids. It went all the way to the State Supreme Court and the ruling was it was a government agency and they could cover up whatever they wanted.

Did you see DHS secretary Mayorakas getting grilled about this recently? My friend was watching a video yesterday and I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but somebody (sounded maybe like Ted Cruz?) was RIPPING INTO him about this.

Edit: It was probably from this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/mayorkas-denounces-revolting-attack-from-ted-cruz-who-accused-him-of-being-willing-to-let-children-be-raped/ar-AA19bPUN

I love that photo of the german shepherds doing their obedience & discipline-exam!

Notice that the dogs are either looking at the cat, super-focused ad just waiting for a command, or looking at someone out-of-frame, presumably the handler standing ready to save the cat.

Except one. He or she is looking straight at the camera. That's the smart one; it shows enhanced situational awareness.

Kudos for invoking memories of "bonsai kitten" too!

Wow! "...enhanced situational awareness."

One might be excused for thinking those are border collies in disguise...

"smirks knowingly"

My old bitch was part Border Collie. She had the scornful look-bit down pat. Clever girl too, to boot. Whenever she wanted something done, like opening a door by pulling the handle, she'd go get the male dog to do it for her.

1/8 Border Collie, 1/8 Rottweiler, 1/8 Golden Retriever, 1/8 Newfoundland, 1/8 Siberian Husky, 1/8 German Shepherd, 1/8 Labrador Retriever, 1/8 Plain Collie.

Looked like a Border Collie in basic fur-style, head-shape and such, with the body of a Rottweiler. Deceptively strong for only weighing 35 kilos.

Well, German Shepherds are obviously very smart dogs, but I was trained by a border collie, so you'll have to excuse my bias.

That's amazing that you know all those eighths!

The couple we got her from knew what quarters where in her parents, so I had a cheat-sheet so to speak.

She was quite the hunter, could stalk rabbits over open ground undetected and killed them in under a second by snapping their necks without piercing their skin even.

(In southern Sweden, especially the "Deep South", rabbits are a pest, so much that there are frequent outbreaks of myxomatosis* - in the city we lived in they colonised the green strip in the middle of highways and roundabouts, leading to torrential rains undermining those.)

*Myxomatosis was imported here purposefully from the US in the 1930s to curb the rabbit population; since there were and are too few predators in and around cities, they tried using biological warfare against the rabbits. Now, we have myxomatosis (called rabbit plague/kaninpest in swedish and rabbits who die slowly and painfully from it, instead of having free hunting or bringing back the old system with hunters under contract from the county - thanks to bleeding hearts liberals, feminists and other derange-os.

Sorry, did we have a topic somewhere?

You are bringing the topic!

I had never heard of myxomatosis. It's fascinating to me why modern humans refuse to control "natural" (i.e. "caused by that 'unnatural' human animal) pest infestations with effective and environmentally-safe pesticides, but we must think *any* killing must be immoral!

Many decades ago, a community college was overrun with breeding rabbits, and I convinced a groundskeeper to let me demostrate the solution. My border collie (a previous one!) was allowed to go to work, ultimately laying a dozen neck-snapped rabbits at our feet.

An administrator came to the remaining pests rescue.

Expand full comment

City we lived in before going all Barney Google-like, had two hunters contracted to do for pest control, inventory of wild life, kill traffic injured animals, the usual routine.

Then, a green feminist seated on the city council "leaked" their private info to her chums and galpals in the Revolutionary Front.

Leading to both families being harassed, their houses firebombed, threats of murder directed at their kids, the usual routine.

The police "hadnothing to go on".

The hunters tore up their contracts, and in under two years the population of various types of gulls, geese, rats, rabbits, and feral cats exploded.

So the femi-commie-green alliance suggested trapping animals, sterilising them and then releasing them into the city again...

Much nice. Thank you so much! The rabbit brought some onions over here after he rescued his friend. After the cr@p on the news today (and every day), I appreciate the sweetness! The kitty in the cup concerns me because my mind runs amok with the least provocation. (I hope they let her/him out!!) Purrs to G and Bonnie!
