Monologue Monday
Finally a reason to watch (part of) SNL
(Note for new subscribers: On Monday, I recap some of the positive stories I’ve come across in the last week. Feel free to add your own in the comments!)
Substack down time ate away a bunch of my writing time today, so I apologize for the lack of detail surrounding today’s stories!
On Saturday Night Live, Woody Harrelson silenced the must-be-vaccinated crowd by holding up a giant mirror. Watch the whole thing here:
The media reacted exactly as you’d expect, accusing Harrelson of being an “anti-vaxxer”.
What does that term even mean anymore? During covid they changed the definition of ‘anti-vaxxer’ to anybody who argues against government mandates. Does that mean that everybody writing at these outlets is still gung ho about forced vaccination via government mandate?
I seriously doubt that’s the case, “anti-vaxxer” is just the new “racist” — a term to lob at your political adversaries like a grenade.
Overnight, posters of Canadians suffering from vaccine injuries were plastered onto the windows of the CBC/Radio-Canada offices.
Inside, the staff is feverishly determining a new strategy of ignoring the elephant in the room.
My man Damian Lillard scored 71 points in a win over Houston last night, tying the Portland star for 8th most points in a game all time.
My theory is that they secretly want his blood to create super-ballers who are human cheat codes like Dame.
At this rate, the “conspiracy theorists” are gonna have to put an extra digit on the scoreboard.
I’m not the biggest fan of Steve Jobs, but he really nailed it in this speech (especially story #1). Take a listen:
This is certainly true of my journey. There are so many things I’ve done in the past that — at the time — seemed like they went nowhere. It’s only looking back that I can see how those things led me to this exact moment, being able to do this “work” with freedom and joy. (And hopefully a little competence as well!)
Now that you’re all pumped up, go out and handle life like this guy:

What kind of a person decides that steeping themselves in apparatchik doublethink is a good idea? How can you simultaneously "follow the science" and also ignore any evidence that doesn't support your viewpoint? I'm so confused by anyone who doubles down on the Covid vax at this point, even if you're pro-vax. It obviously does not work like they said it would. It doesn't stop you from getting it, it doesn't stop transmission, it might reduce the severity, but I don't know that they have the evidence to support that, either. Anecdotally, it seems like people I know who are vaxxed and people I know who are unvaxxed have pretty much the same severity. So, what exactly is the benefit you get in exchange for the risk? Even if the risk is miniscule, why would you do it unless there is a benefit? Who is benefitting? Big Pharma, that's who. We risk, they benefit. WTF? And I don't think "demonstrating loyalty to the state" is a benefit for me, just for the state. But apparently the cronies writing these articles think it's important. Can you even imagine spending your life punting for plutocrats? Yuck.
My favorite question du jour? What’s the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth?? Three years. BOOM!
