Control the narrative and you control the world. As it turns out (and as everyone here probably knows), almost all of the authorized narratives are either bogus or at least dubious. I expound on this theme in my "introductory" Substack post. I think I'll be writing about a lot of the same topics. Anyway, it seemed like a good time to join the fight.
What always grabs me--read the history of the Romans and it's like we're in an episode of You Are There just in shabbier public buildings. Every venality, every bacchanalian (yeah I know that's Greek but never mind) excess, every wise philosopher ignored as a killjoy--
I mean, it gets annoying, doesn't it, that nobody ever learns?
No, she's a true believer in the cult of "sustainability", and she knows that when she has her way, she'll still be well taken care of because she's in the club.
The point IS to get us all back into the stone age, us regular rabble, because then we can be controlled, and they'll be much more comfortable in the abundance they've stored up for themselves at our expense. We're just leeches, and the sooner the leeches stop sucking on the teet of the entitled, the better off they'll all be.
And, admittedly, in her and hers case, it wouldn't be all that bad idea.
Future historians shivering in the ice age bunkers will consider empowering her and her type in what should have been a Christian country one of the poorer ideas from an international view.
The most troublesome thing to come from financial regulation was Operation Chokepoint. When Democrats accuse Republicans of imposing their own views on others, I like to point to OC. It essentially outlawed entire industries based on Barack Obama's personal preferences. That's not fascism, it's autocracy.
Yep. And as I commented below, OC was suspended in 2017 when Trump was in office, then THAT suspension was undone by Biden after he was put into office.
The problem isn't the Rash, or the squad or the dem regime that anointed her. The problem is there's millions like her, and they're growing. Either we convince a whole bunch of them to switch sides, or we plan for hostilities. We're dealing with irreconcilable differences. No society can survive that.
We learned about it in 2013. It was ended in 2017 and recently restarted. I'm sure the timing is coincidence.
------------
But on Jan. 28, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency under President Biden announced it would pause the Trump-era rule intended to prevent another Operation Choke Point from happening again.
Thank you for the documentation. I have articles and such saved from when we first learned of it but did not dig them up for my post. I was not aware that there was a rule put in place to keep it from happening again. Guess that didn’t work.
Even without the government doing it, ESG eventually will if we don’t stop that. And no one seems to care enough to stop it. At least not enough.
No equivocation needed. They are insane, they are ignorant, they are blinded by ideology that is full religious fanaticism. No borders, or lines, anywhere in their search for a utopian, unachievable, purity.
And despite her very large mouth, she can't pronounce Celsius correctly, showing she's unfamiliar with the word. In fact, I've noticed big mouths are the common characteristic shared by the Squad.
god I hated Carlin. what is terrible is how damn funny he was in the 70's. You just showed a clip of a person I never want to b when I'm old and I'm 59. Who the fuck is "they"? And not only will I guarantee you he aint talking about Fauci when he said "they", Im pretty damn sure he'd be hectoring people for not wearing a mask. (see Stern, Howard. Though at least Carlin's was once funny.)
I’m not a fan of the nebulous “they” either, but I’m not sure I see what you mean about Carlin. He always seemed to operate with a foot out of the system and if anything, he got a bit more belligerent about it as he got older (maybe at the expense of being funny, becoming more like a standup philosopher, like the current Dave Chappelle.) As for the masks, I find it really hard to believe that he’d be in favor, given his take on the immune system and germs.
Probably would favor social distancing though, but I do too. Not because it works but because the public can generally stay the hell away from me.
I think "Horsey" pretty well makes my point, though I thought the baseball/football motif was pretty funny. But as with Chapelle, you make my point. When a comedian stops being funny in order to make his point, he is no longer a comedian and loses his entire raison d'etre.
Carlin became quite the angry old man and I weary of him raised as some idol. His repeated act on baseball was pretty gay but the tiresome golf course tirade was more a reflection on him and his personal unhappiness.
Turning golf courses into Section 8 housing was not any solution. It was only an attack on people who like to play outdoor billiards. I don't even play golf but man, it was idiotic.
Here's an article on his life which sums up the bitter, angry old dude motif of someone who is not eager to meet his maker. That was my gut on Carlin late. It made me uncomfortable to see this old angry dude who was clearly so unhappy with himself. I didn't realize that his heavy cocaine use may have led to several heart attacks.
Point taken but this is not the first (or last) time that big business has compromised itself in order to avoid disruptions. Corporate leaders responsibility is to their bottom line. The more short sighted ones make bad decisions like this because they cant see past the next quarter.
Much of the groups’ clout with the WHO stems simply from money. Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the Gates Foundation, Gavi, and the Wellcome Trust have donated collectively more than $1.4 billion to the WHO — a significantly greater amount than most other official member states, including the United States and the European Commission, according to data provided by the WHO.
“You have to remember that when you’re dealing with the Gates Foundation, it’s almost like you’re dealing with another major country in terms of their donations to these global health organizations,” a former senior U.S. health official said.
Working closely with the WHO, the four groups played a central role in creating an initiative known as the Access to Covid-19 Tools Accelerator, or ACT-A, that focused on securing and delivering tests, treatments and vaccine doses to low- and middle-income countries across the world. COVAX — a special consortium operated by Gavi, CEPI and UNICEF — is the vaccine pillar of the ACT-A initiative.
Oh man! You know, many always said that Obama was smug and arrogant, but that clip of Bush made it really hard for me to tell the difference between the two of them. Thanks for ruining pizza night SC. Lol. Yeah, it's a big club alright. To be honest, I'm glad I'm not in it. Even though those of us on the outside have to endure the consequences of said "club's" disastrous, malicious plans, we're better off being on the outside looking in than the other way around.
Did someone mistakenly inform her she was Queen for the Day? Good grief. Sorry to hear you're stuck with her in Michigan lemmincakes. If it makes you feel any better, we too have our own elected morons here in Washington state . #youarenotalone
The morons are not limited to the echelons of power . If you've ever succumbed to reading let alone responding, to NextDoor in Seattle, you'll need a fairly powerful measure of self-control.
Haha - if I'm feeling like I need a good laugh, I'll jump on to read a few 'neighborly' posts. And it does act as a barometer of sorts regarding the elected officials we have in our state.......it takes one moron to vote for another moron.
Exactly, which is why it seems like a self-perpetuating cycle.
In most of the posts I happen across, (apart from lost pets) there's nearly always a competition to see who can out-virtue signal the other, or put down a poor naive newcomer having the gall to venture an opinion that is just not acceptable to these little would-be Torquemadas. Retaliating invites banishment. Just like with Covid. You can see where it's all coming from ........

She's a loony. If she got her way we would be all back in the stone age

I think actually, in her case, she's just a moron thrilled to be part of the show. AOC on the other hand--that's one clever piece of work.
I hope you're being sarcastic about AOC. No. Of course you must be.
No.
Seventh Century for her crowd.
And, admittedly, in her and hers case, it wouldn't be all that bad idea.
Future historians shivering in the ice age bunkers will consider empowering her and her type in what should have been a Christian country one of the poorer ideas from an international view.

Did not know that.
It's also a big club in the other sense of club.
But it would of course be rude and paranoid to call the slavedrivers, profiteers, polluters and homewreckers a capitalist conspiracy. Very rude.
Yet true.
Folks are upset that "people" will police their "types" if they will not.
And there seems to be very little "self-policing" going on now.
The problem isn't the Rash, or the squad or the dem regime that anointed her. The problem is there's millions like her, and they're growing. Either we convince a whole bunch of them to switch sides, or we plan for hostilities. We're dealing with irreconcilable differences. No society can survive that.
Nothing new here. Obama actually had financial institutions limiting services to the firearm industry. How many years ago was that now?
We learned about it in 2013. It was ended in 2017 and recently restarted. I'm sure the timing is coincidence.

Commander, I'm no globalist banker type but Dimon's truthful reply to the commie that ceasing US energy production is a path "to hell" is super good.
Fact check: true.
Agreed. The climate warriors are borderline insane, especially if they aren't behind nuclear.
No equivocation needed. They are insane, they are ignorant, they are blinded by ideology that is full religious fanaticism. No borders, or lines, anywhere in their search for a utopian, unachievable, purity.
Talib has not one effing clue what all is petroleum based.... starting with the hideous POLYESTER jacket she’s wearing. Her ignorance is glaring.m
God. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Illiterate, belligerent and badly dressed. Perfect commie.

I tell myself the same thing. Most days I even believe it!
😂 I always encourage shitlibs to protest against big oil by boycotting all petroleum derived and transported products
Let the bastards freeze and starve in the dark
How dare you! That's misogyny!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlM7y6tNhS4
Glorious. I’ve been to a coupla oil &gas parties in Louisiana partied with some good ol boys on Bourbon Street
That’s almost as good as that Patagonia guy saving the planet with his petroleum derived products
Fine, give me the first reason to actually side with Jamie Dimon.
Also, what’s the sound of balls being gargled. Good Lord!

And if they will do this to 'dominate' a crappy neighborhood app, imagine what they would to with any real power at all.
And, George Carlin was one of a kind. Only comic that actually made me laugh. He was topical.
He was the best because he just stood up and spoke the truth in a hilarious way.
I just saw him, what little I saw of him as an angry old commie, Commander.
Did he ever!
Seriously it did make me scream. She is a moron. Why are we stuck with her here in Michigan? Why??!!!!!
