Yesterday the House Financial Services Committee got together to grill Wall Street for the benefit of the cameras. During the session, Rashida Tlaib demanded that banks cease lending to companies that deal with the fossil fuel industry. The super interesting part to me occurs around 50 seconds in, when Tlaib suggests that customers close their JPMorgan Chase-affiliated bank accounts after Jamie Dimon DARES suggest that her idea is completely idiotic:
This is a little glimpse at the casual way in which our government throws around threats and advances us closer to actual fascism — with corporations and government acting in tandem to the detriment of the citizenry.
But just in case you were worried that this signals some sort of rift between Wall Street and K Street, allow me to put those fears to rest:
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Isn’t it neat how we’re all part of the club and this is all for show? It reminds me of the absolutely disgusting video of the press laughing about Bush’s “searching for WMD in the Oval Office” photos.
As George Carlin said, “It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it.”
Control the narrative and you control the world. As it turns out (and as everyone here probably knows), almost all of the authorized narratives are either bogus or at least dubious. I expound on this theme in my "introductory" Substack post. I think I'll be writing about a lot of the same topics. Anyway, it seemed like a good time to join the fight.

What always grabs me--read the history of the Romans and it's like we're in an episode of You Are There just in shabbier public buildings. Every venality, every bacchanalian (yeah I know that's Greek but never mind) excess, every wise philosopher ignored as a killjoy--
I mean, it gets annoying, doesn't it, that nobody ever learns?
