Yesterday, Tucker Carlson sat down with GOP hopefuls (with one major exception) for frank discussions in an epic eight-hour question-and-answer event. Dubbed “The Summit” by the sponsor Blaze Media, candidates Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis — along with Tucker — covered a wide range of topics. I’ve gathered some of my favorite videos from the event below. (As with the Wray appearance last week, I’ll keep the words to a minimum because there’s so much video.)
But really quickly before we get to “The Summit” clips, I want to highlight a video from Tulsi Gabbard speaking at FreedomFest this week. (Full nearly 7-hour video at link!) This is the kind of talk I grew up hearing from the left — so it’s no wonder the Democrats ran her out of the modern party.
It feels like there’s a lot of people who could get behind a message like Gabbard’s, yet the current Democratic party is moving in exactly the opposite direction (and smearing anybody who sounds like Tulsi as “right-wing”). I think that smart politicians will work with this Gabbard/Taibbi set of the Democrats — at least about issues if not for political candidates.
Moving onto “The Summit”, we’ll start things off with a very quick exchange between Tucker and Governor Asa Hutchinson about covid vaccinations. This is perhaps the “mic drop” moment of the day.
Ron DeSantis discusses how to dismantle the Deep State, and states that if you don’t have backbone to stand up to the press and the left, you will fail if you try. He also says you have to be willing to fire people like Fauci, and that the president ultimately has the authority in the executive branch, not the bureaucrats:
I was pretty impressed with this answer because it lists practical things that somebody can do as president to affect change in the system. (Ron Paul was very good at that)
Here, Tucker has an exchange with Tim Scott about why Mexico is our ally but Russia is our enemy:
Vivek Ramaswamy talks about what real privilege is (hint — it’s not skin color):
Tim Scott dances around the Ukraine issue:
Keeping on the subject of Ukraine, here’s Ron DeSantis:
At the open of the broadcast, “The Summit” analysts called today the first day of the election. It also marks the day Mike Pence effectively killed his campaign during a segment on Ukraine. (Though, let’s be honest, he’s just in the race to attack Trump and pimp war)
“That’s not my concern” should be carved into the tombstone of the Pence campaign.
This is exactly why I encourage formats like this in which politicians have to sit and explain themselves. Now and then, they accidentally tell you what they’re thinking. (Watch the full exchange with Pence about Ukraine here — 13 minutes.)
In this clip, Ron DeSantis talks about the dangers of Central Bank Digital Currencies and promises CBDCs would be outlawed in a DeSantis administration:
In the last clip, Vivek Ramaswamy discusses January 6th and the reasons behind it (with bonus points for mentioning Screaming):
I’ll add another point that Ramaswamy doesn’t mention — after the “Summer of Love” and constant riots by the left while the ‘experts’ told the right to sit down and shut up, January 6th was finally the chance for the right to mobilize and protest. After being locked away from one another for years, the protest was the big chance to come together and connect with other humans again. Remember — the protestors were mostly festive and happy until the police started lobbing gas and flashbangs into the crowd.
That’s it for today! Enjoy your weekend, Screamers!
LOL at how the mainstream is covering this:
