This morning ET the DNC announced they are not waiting for the convention, but will hold a virtual vote before the convention to, quoting the PR, "confirm Kamala Harris" as the presidential nomination. Either the rules were changed or the committee has waived the rules (the PR I read did not say which). Why could they not wait until the convention opens? There's a mystery. Doubling down in "historic": this is the first time in the history of the party that the presidential candidate did not run in the primaries and now the first time selection was made officially before the convention opened.
Interesting question from Woopie. One thing those audience members can NOT do is vote for Harris in the primaries. This doesn't seem to bother Woopie, her cohosts, guests and audience.

Millions of voters cast their vote for Clinton before the convention.
Harris did not appear on any 2024 primary or caucus ballot as nominee for president. Now it appears The Party is not going to wait for the convention to open to declare her the nominee (they've announced a special virtual vote with, it appears, on choice on the slate). Now it seems not only are they doing a "never mind" on the primaries, they're also making the convention irrelevant. Not even the appearance of a democratic contest.
The thinking was that pine tar too high on the bat would rub off on the ball when the hitter makes contact, rendering the ball unsuitable for play after a certain point. Now they cycle through balls so fast it doesn't really matter.
Last time I mosied down to China Basin, I played a new game. Instead of keeping score, which requires eyes on *every* pitch, I tried to keep track with paper and pencil of every *baseball* (which requires same plus great seats! ;-) ).

And if Ms Harris doesn't secure the endorsement of former President Obama before the convention, I don't see her coming out of the convention as the Dem candidate. The media can spin "money flowing into the campaign" and "unifying voice" all they want. It won't matter until she has Obama's endorsement- that is the only voice that matters between now and the election. Ms Harris' odds of being the party candidate diminish each day that she hasn't secured that endorsement.

The Dem party, by sticking with Biden as long as they have, have painted themselves into a corner. For 2024, they either "swing for the fences", "throw a Hail Mary", "look to land a hay maker" OR they send a lamb to be sacrificed while regrouping for the midterms.
