Happy Independence Day, Screamers! Today we celebrate the fact that a long time ago, a bunch of fed-up patriots told the king to go shove it, leading to a system of governance unlike any before it. By drastically restricting government and allowing people to be free, America harnessed the power of voluntary cooperation and became a beacon shining around the world, calling to anybody seeking a better life.
It’s no surprise that government has spent the time since trying to reestablish the tyranny that remains the rule in much of the world.
In America, government workers are not designed to be the rulers of the country. (At best, they should be referees, as I wrote last Independence Day!)
The greatest thing about individual freedom is that it allows every citizen to ascertain their own unique circumstances and make decisions based on that information — information nobody else in the world has. When government makes decisions, they not only lack the necessary information to make the best decision for your circumstances, in most cases they’re not even considering your circumstances at all, because political bodies make decisions for political reasons, not practical ones.
In America, government is supposed to only be in charge of a few things. It’s not Jay Inslee’s place to determine which businesses can stay open and which must close. It’s not Joe Biden’s place to determine what I can or can’t say online. Building society is up to the people, not the politicians.
In America, government is tasked with protecting all the rights of all the people, and to run the bureaucracy. That’s it. It’s long past time we remind the politicians that they work for us, not the other way around.
Fortunately, the day of reckoning is hastened by the incompetence and corruption of the ‘leaders’. Unfortunately, we’re forced to deal with the incompetence and corruption of the ‘leaders’ in the first place.
So this Independence Day, remember that America isn’t its government — it’s created by the people who live here. America was founded on freedom from bad government, not just freedom from England. Let’s not let government divide us based on politics. (At least let each person do that individually!) As you enjoy the holiday with friends and neighbors, remember that we ALL hate the Swamp monsters in DC, so raise a glass to THAT.
And while alcohol and explosives are synonymous with our country’s founding, remember they don’t mix well! Don’t end up at the mercy of our healthcare system because of a regrettable decision!
In other words, don’t be these people:
See you after the holiday — hopefully with all your fingers and toes still intact.
How do we all keep hope alive?
It would take just ONE Covid scandal being exposed for the whole house of cards to crumble.
So that’s why ONE Covid scandal (or any scandal) can’t be definitively exposed. Still, I keep pulling for the Big Story that will “make the world a better place.” Hope is the very best thing.

Great video!! Wish that would happen to our neighbor, who doesn't work, and sets them off all night for a week.
