This has been about politics from day one. Anthony Fauci has provided funds anywhere he can to support gain of function work that is illegal in the United States, and repeatedly lied about what he did. The virus escaped from the Chinese virology lab in Wuhan - I realized that as soon as I heard "Wuhan." Back when I was working for US Intelligence it was the known center for Chinese biowarfare. The canard about the wet market was an obvious red herring.

Nancy Pelosi politicized the virus as soon as possible, and made sure that things for citizens were as difficult as possible. The worse things were, the easier it would be to get rid of Donald Trump and gain political power for Democrats. Personally, I'd charge her with treason.

She got her wish. By the middle of March Trump was not proactive, merely reactive to what Pelosi was doing. This is known as reflexive control, and Trump's thin skin and need to be in the limelight at all times were the buttons she pushed. The response was what she wanted. Waste time, waste resources, make people fearful, ensure Trump was unable to govern, first through the multiple attempted coups that, thanks to John Durham's most recent court filings, we now know were a campaign ploy by Hillary Clinton, then later, by reversing the roles played in Ukraine by the two parties, with Democrats giving bribes and collaborating with Ukrainians and Russians to invent blackmail material while hiding the activities of Hunter Biden. Today, I saw on MSNBC a contributor repeating the lie about Trump being a Russian mole. Really?

We've known since the Spanish Flu how to deal with viral illnesses. Put people outdoors and in sunlight, focus efforts on those most at risk. In the case of COVID19 we knew that there was nearly zero threat of complications (ICU admissions) for people under 50. So we pretended that everyone was facing the same risk, and shut down the global economy, causing many more times the deaths that the disease itself did. The recent release by Johns Hopkins, the world's premier medical statistics analysis center, of a metastudy found that shutting down the global economy reduced deaths from COVID19 by 0.2%. Christ.

Well when the science results in horrid inflation it's clear the pandemic has not gone as planned. We might fear the virus which few understand, but when you reach into their pocket to grab their money, people do understand. And what do you know - they don't like it! Surprise. Thus the policy must change. They have known this at the very top but the middle functionaries haven't quite gotten the message but it's arriving. They now see the people are upset and are really looking hard at what they have been through. And for what? The infections kept going despite all the theater. The damage has happened and the people want someone to blame. They aren't buying that the damage was caused by white supremos or the normal whipping boys. Whether the policy shift was soon enough remains to be seen; if anything, the public has little long term memory. But the fall will see a string of reminders. Those that took advantage of the fear in order to promote a social change may discover their overreach.

Trump did it, of course. We in California know that much, even our Texas and Florida diasporas.

We need to be very aware of how much worse it can get. I went to one election integrity event last year and it was in some country we had occupied and a military contact of one of the speakers told him they ran the "free and fair" democratic election. They didn't even open the box.

On a related note, I believe the Racine, WI, Special prosecutor just accused the Zuckerberg funds, or its beneficiaries, of egregious violation of election law. It's on my list of "Things To Get Informed About." Maybe a more informed poster could share. (See how I roll with my "researching"?)

On the contrary, a lot of very rich people got a whole lot richer in the last couple years. And the political grafters have been flooded with cash. This whole thing has worked out incredibly well for some people.

And now the governors in WA, OR & CA have agreed that masks can come off for everyone on March 11. Because...science! We are so fortunate to have such strong leadership here on the left coast, don't you think?

I vividly remember that morning of March 13, 2020, when I found my a-political good neighbor enjoying the last of his Winter wheat (most likely imported from Kazakhstan, the biggest exporter of such) in the last of a cold Winter sun, and I exclaimed to him, "Gavin Newsome just shut down California!! Better get inside, Jim."

I didn't really say the last part, but little did I know, and even less did Jim know, that I should have said, "Let's stay outside all Spring and Summer long and enjoy our vitamin D instead."

Edit: Meant to post as an op, so I did.

Politics and Science are like the x and y axis.

Late edit: I meant to be saying that the two are, in fact, independent of each other, but it could also mean that, today, Science seems to be a function y(x) of Politics. Gee, math is more witty than I realized.

Thank goodness I didn't wait for the "science" to tell me I'm "allowed" to breathe again. Imagine the damage that has been done to those who have been waiting for permission to live? I'll never get over this insanity. I thought I'd start seeing less "instructional posters" about masking now that the "science" is out. But nope! Post office today... nice shiny new posters reminding everyone to "protect yourself and others". I've had it with this nonsense.

They basically ran all the free-thinkers out of government and healthcare......makes me wonder what they will be asking those people to do next. :/

The cream of the Democrat crop is attracted to what they believe in, euphemistically called "public service." Likewise, or conversely for those of a mathematical bent, the best of those who believe the private sector will be our ultimate salvation (my definition of "free thinker"), are there, creating wealth by making their lives, and the lives of friends, family, and neighbors as golden as possible.

This unappreciated, inherent bias in resulting political leadership is why Democrat thugs-I-mean-politicians tend to run rings around their Republican counterparts, who might be described by this free thinker, and his basketball coaches, as the "second-stringers."
