While most of the United States was celebrating the holiday yesterday, Missouri v. Biden Judge Terry A. Doughty was putting in overtime — FOR AMERICA. He partially granted an injunction that stops government (and its associated agencies) from “suggesting” posts that should be removed or users who should be banned.
You can find the link to the judgment here (it’s only 7 pages), but I’ve highlighted my favorite part below. The government and its various agencies are banned from:
This is the major homerun, I think. First, Doughty saw that government directly telling social media companies who to ban violates the First Amendment. Then, he ALSO saw that government telling a “public/private partnership” to do the work instead ALSO violates the First!
For those who want more red meat, Doughty also released a 155-page accompanying memorandum in which he highlights specific instances of government demanding censorship — often of things that were completely true.
In one section, the judge writes:
Doughty straight up calls out the blatant suppression of legal political speech encompassing the most important issues of the day! It’s so nice to finally get a win after such a long period of protracted censorship. (Though I also have no doubt those censorship machines have already moved on to other topics — like Ukraine.)
But it’s more than a little sobering to think that we needed a court case like this in the first place. Government was “coordinating” with basically every large media outlet in America (and probably the world), yet exactly none of them came running to the public to blow the whistle about government suppression of free speech.
Instead, the presstitutes all jumped on board with the censorship, and even got little pats on the head over email when they did the government’s bidding. They ran every narrative-furthering story they could (even when it made no sense), and spat terrible epithets at those who resisted the propaganda onslaught. As an example, they ran this segment handwringing about Elon Musk fiddling with the “knobs of allowable discussion” KNOWING FULL WELL that government already was already turning them!
This provides another example of how the reputation economy gets built. Look back on how this story was covered (or not) by major media outlets. Nearly all of them said “private companies can do what they want” — and they said that knowing government was directing the actions behind the scenes. These are the outlets that will knowingly lie to you. Accordingly, they should lose your trust.
On the other hand, there’s a few people who have been correctly pointing out that government can’t just use private companies as a proxy for censorship. (I often use the example of government hiring a private security company to search your house without a warrant. This is a violation of the Fourth Amendment even though government didn’t perform the actual search.) People who went against the media narrative — which we now know was government-led — and pointed out that government has no business dictating was is and isn’t allowable speech. (Especially with our own money!) Those Screamers are the people who should gain in the “reputation” economy.
Speaking of Screamers, Ice Cube appeared on Joe Rogan this last week and discussed the vaccines and the “gatekeepers” in a great segment:
“Nobody can talk about it because somebody above them told them no.”
With the Missouri v. Biden judgment, we know who that is — at least in part.
Lastly, a quick Bonnie update! The temperature in Arizona is now too high to leave the windows and doors open at night, meaning Bonnie can’t just wait outside the door and stare inside, waiting for G to see her and come play.
Her solution? Use the doggie door and come inside to wait for G instead! What a smart little cookie!
Speaking of G:
Is the GRAY ZONE legit?
Yet their robes are so Druid like and they all wear them, “the good, the bad, the ugly” so to speak and it’s taking way too long for them to grow the balls required to publicly sort themselves out from the virulent ones. Hopefully not but maybe that’s the point, yet more reasons to delay the coming of the torches and pitchforks as it were.
(“Virulent one’s…”😏 Must be because the World War Z rerun is on in the background making me think more about the parallels between our political classes and some plague viruses of the past…and the more successful methods used to eradicate them. Just sayin’.)
